Next Gen's 360 picks for 2007

It's the first week of a new year, and predictions are the order of the day. Next Gen chimes in with its list of the 360 games to watch in 2007. If you follow the 360, then you know what games are on that list (we picked most of them, too) but the enormity of the full list is very impressive. To say that the 360 will have a wealth of games this year would be putting it very mildly. We've taken the liberty of organizing Next Gen's picks into a categorized list. Check it out after the break. Don't forget to add your picks, too.

Lost Planet: Extreme Condition
Grand Theft Auto IV
Assassin's Creed
Resident Evil 5
Halo 3
Medal of Honor: Airborne
John Woo Presents: Stranglehold
Half-Life 2
Too Human
The Darkness
Virtua Fighter 5
Brothers in Arms: Hell's Highway
Battlefield: Bad Company
Spider-Man 3
Indiana Jones
The Club
Alone in the Dark 5
Army of Two

Forza Motorsport 2
Virtua Tennis 3
Burnout 5
Def Jam: Icon
Winning Eleven: Pro Evolution Soccer 2007
The Bigs
NBA Street Homecourt

Mass Effect
Blue Dragon
Lost Odyssey
Fable 2
LOTR: The White Council
Obsidian's Aliens RPG

The Rest
Command and Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars
Guitar Hero II

Do you have another you'd like to see added? We'll put our vote down for Project Offset.

the only title i would add or rather replace nhl 2k8 with is nhl 08... i know its uncool to support ea but sega sports game seems cheesy and buggy to me every year.

other than that every other game im waiting for is listed and quite frankly the contents of that list makes me a lil moist. heres to a good year of gaming.

There are at least 20 titles on that list I'm very interested in playing. I wouldn't buy them all, but I have definte interest in at least playing them. Add in who knows how many good XBLA games coming next year, and that's a lot of games.

I also have the PS3 and Wii. I don't even know why I buy them. There is no way I'll have enough time to play a third of the games I'll want to play between the 3 systems.

NHL 07 was a joke bug wise. EA keeps churning out more crap every year. While EA's rendition of hockey looks better... it does not play better.

Hoopworld is eventually coming to XBLA. It's a sports title, basically.

The 2K series is not published by SEGA anymore. Visual Concepts goes WAAAAY back to well before SEGA purchased them in the DC days. You may recall some of their titles from back when they were an EA Desert Strike, Jungle Strike, Madden 94 and 95, MLBPA Baseball, NHL 95, Ken Griffy Jr. Baseball, or Clayfighter (ok, so they aren't all good).

Visual Concepts was purchased by Take-Two in January 2005 though. You may know Take-Two as 2K Games now (they published Prey, Oblivion, Jade Empire...they're going to publish Bioshock and the Darkness).

So buy 2K sports games with a light heart.

Halo 3 and GTA4 and Gears of War 2 will be the games I'm looking forward too. Fable 2 if that comes out in 2007.

Yeah, I doubt we'll see Fable 2 in 2007, or Resident Evil 5 for that matter.

Still, there are plenty of games on the list that have got me giddy.

Does anyone know if any of the RPG games will be close to Oblivion in gameplay? I just got Oblivion this week (first time I've played an RPG) and I'm really enjoying it, but fantasy isn't really a genre I like very much. If there were a game exactly like Oblivion except, perhaps, say....sci-fi, I'd LOVE it.

WoW! wat a great time to be a 360 owner! I still dont see the need to spend hundreds of dollars on a console with no games now or on the way (ps3) but i see the need, and feel like i want to work hard to earn the money to play many of these great titles 360 will be getting this year! Happy New Year!

I'm hot for:

1. Grand Theft Auto 4 - I want to see what Rockstar does to keep up with Saints Row (ie. better targetting, PLEASE!)

2. Settlers of Catan - aka Crack Cocaine for XBLA

3. Bioshock

4. Fable 2 (if it comes out)

5. Oh, and some game called Halo 3.

Looking at this list, and thinking about how many other titles are going to be adding themselves to the list, really makes it look like this is going to be a banner year for the 360.

However, one thing I definitely see happening is a handful of those titles slipping into 2008 for "delays". Which is really a cover for MS pushing them back with Banjo Kazooie because they need to have some more supporting First-Party titles in '08.

Halo 3, Fable 2, among a handful of other games competing with each-other? Doubt it. MS will obviously stagger their releases to make sure each game sells it's potential. Especially with Halo 3 coming out with a $60, $70 and $100 packages, which will undoubtedly sell, will dig deep into the pockets of consumers, which means competition for their other games.
