Still, it wouldn't surprise us to see the game eventually. Also, the editor of the website that broke the story (Noooz) was very confident with his source. As he stated to our Joystiq mother ship, "I rarely run with anything unless I'm 100% confident. I rarely break news stories as you can see." As we stated before, he is a member of the game industry, giving this rumor more traction than most.
With so many 360s around the world already -- many in places that Sony hasn't launched -- it will become increasingly hard for publishers not to make games for it. The game industry is all about numbers and MS is creating customers in regions that have never even had console launches before. Publishers can't ignore that, especially in the age of skyrocketing development costs. Will MGS4 hit the 360? We're betting yes, but not until it has at least a few months to move some Playstation 3 units.

It's totally coming to the 360. Note how the konami rep used the key phrase "no plans for [rumor xyz] at this time." Which 99% of the time is PR speak that really means "Yes, the rumor is true, but we can't confirm it yet because someone will get very mad at us if we do."
THis will probably play out like so many other quasi-exclusives... only exclusive to one platform for a set amount of time, and then ported to every other system under the sun.

Yeah, anyone remember Assassin's Creed. Sony is probably trying to deny the extra rush the 360 would get in the holiday season thanks to the possibility of such a high profile game.

Yup, it's coming but Konami has been told to STFU by Sony no doubt because M$ has the units available this Christmas to put Sony's lights out and they can't afford yet another blow before they can ship any meaningful number of consoles. Remember, Guitar Hero AND Assasin's Creed were both denied up one side and down the other before they were finally confirmed. We'll get a definate yes AFTER it ships for the Gaystation. Just based on sheer numbers alone, developers can't afford PS3 exclusives for at least another year if at all.

If they weren't bringing it to the Xbox 360 the statement would have read "Konami has no plans to bring Metal Gear Solid 4 to the Xbox 360"
But "at this time" was tacked on to the end, which would imply that initially the plan is for the PS3, and there's the option to release to the 360 later.

Time for a quick grammar lesson:
No plans for "rumor xyz" ever.
and
No plans for "rumor xyz" at this time
mean two different things.
-------------------------------------
"No plans for "rumor xyz"
and
"No plans for "rumor xyz" at this time
mean the EXACT same thing.
They currently, at time of making said statement, HAVE NO PLAN.
One more example for those who miss the obvious:
I'm not going to the movies.
Does NOT mean I'm not EVER going. It means I'm not planning to go at the time I made the statement.
Fanboys always looking for something... Take a page from the Nintendo fanboys. Just sit there and cuddle your little 360, and don't bother everyone else.
What happen to the days when people could just enjoy their system as opposed to attacking everyone else? I mean seriously. Is it too much to ask that I could read a thread and just see people talking productively about the subject instead of hating on something else?
relevant Full Disclosure:
I own a Wii and Zelda
360 with PGR, GRAW, Vegas, GoW, COD3, nhl07
PS3 w/ resist and RR.

1st post :) (not on this thread dumbass on 360 fanboy) lol!
anyways I love mgs, mega fan and id love mgs4 on the 360!
but i think that microsoft should completely pwn Sony and do a deal with konami to release a next gen version of the original metal gear from the msx
then release metal gear 2
then release metal gear 3 (mgs1)
then metal gear 4 (mgs2)
then metal gear 5 (mgs3, a next gen jungle would rock)
then metal gear 6 (effectively mgs4, but different name so they dont get sued)
thatd be awesome, and would make the 360 super awesome!
lol!

"almost as *** as the HALO 2 on teh ps2 petition!"
That...is hilarious. If Halo 2 was ported to the PS2...it would have to look awful, like Killzone. It wouldn't be worth it, just like Half-Life 2 for Xbox.

I knew it would never make it to the 360. It's a matter of design really. The MGS series has always been designed with the Playstation hardware in mind. It's designed to work best with the Playstation joypad (which is and always will be supperior to the xbox/360 hunks of crap). They tweak the graphics and art style too look the best on the Playstation hardware. A port to the 360 would mean having to go back over the entire game to dumb down it's graphics, AI, and physics engine to work with the 360's weaker hardware. It wouldn't be worth the effort in the end because you wouldn't be able to put the same game on weaker hardware.

In reply to number 12. Splinter is terribly boring. Has no replay value and some of the most uninteresting stories I've seen in any game. Metal Gear has the story down pat, the gameplay is classic and arcadey but still realistic. Just not over the top realistic.
In reply to 13. ROFL. I never saw that post but Halo wouldn't have looked hardly any worse on the PS2 if given the right team to port it. But who cares, Halo is the most craptastic series of games, especially FPS games ever conceived. Compared to 99% of the FPS games to come before Halo on the PC, Halo was very very dated in it's design. Terribly monotanous single player campaign with very little to keep the player wanting to carry through it. It had the most boring and unimaginative level design I've seen in a shooter. It's multiplayer was even more of a step backward. How it's weapon respawn works is a complete joke. Recharging health. Again god awful map design. Terrible player movement and control physics. It felt like an amateur mod team's and I mean very amateur attempt at a total conversion for Quake 3.

In response to # 14. You couldn't be more correct. Halo is one of the most overrated games out there. I remember I bought the Triple pack(This was years ago)just to see what everyone ws raving about. I finally played it and almost passed out from laughing sooooooooo hard. I was like "This is it, this is the BIG game everyone is talking about". But then I played the muliplayer mode, and I saw what the game was really about. The muliplayer mode was fun, but not enough to make up for the "Everything else". The unimaginative level design, the boring single player campaign, the lack of blood, the horrible movements, and everything else outside of the online play.
Its a shame that depite this Halo still overshadows other better FPS that excell in the areas where Halo fails, just about every feild exept online multiplayer. FEAR, Resistance, Doom, Quake, Call of Duty, Metroid, the list goes on. Even Gear of War will kill Halo and it isn't a FPS.

The fact is that Konami is never going to achieve their financial goals in the playstation 3 platform. It´s only a matter of numbers. The only way to fulfill this matter is adapting the franchise to Xbox360 and sell the games the playstation will never going to make and take the profits. Simple as that!
