We've had our share of wacky (
half true) rumors recently, and today's rumor is a dandy. Titled as an "exclusive" news story, a blog by the name of NOOOZ is claiming that
MGS4 is coming to Xbox 360 according to "a dev source close to the team who cannot be named by pain of death." The game would arrive on 360 a few months after the PS3 release. The rumor obviously smells fishy, but a look at the blog's "About us" page gives it
some validity, as the site's owner is revealed to be a former Sony producer himself (he's a consultant to publishers and developers now). The reason for the move also makes sense: publishers -- Konami included -- are worried that there just won't be enough Playstations on the market by the time their game ships. Without a large install base -- something the 360 already has -- a game just can't make much money.
Sure this is a juicy rumor -- Kojima has even confirmed that it's technically possible -- but right now that's all it is. There are a couple of things that stand in the way of this being true. One, Konami would have to have been developing these titles side-by-side from the beginning. Given their wildly different architectures, we imagine porting PS3 games to 360 is no easy task. Second, this has bee trumpeted as a PS3 exclusive from day one, so much so that the first trailer is basically an ad for the PS3. Still, developers are out there to make money, and this rumor is perfectly plausible if Konami feels that the PS3 won't have the numbers in time.
For now, take it with a cubic foot of salt.
[Thanks, Mat Parker]

This rumor was in a previous month of EGM, and I also read about it previously to that.
Im starting to believe it will be true. I still get irritated about games for xbox coming 3 or 4 months after the PS release. Just make them simultaneous.

Please please let it be true. I've never been a big MGS fan (never played it much) but the more sony exclusives that come to the 360 the better. More 360's = more people to play on live :)

This would be a big blow to Sony, and honestly it doesn't suprise me at all. Gotta make money to stay afloat after all.
I might rent it if it comes true, but I've always felt that the entire MGS line of games were overhyped and underwhelming. I'd rather play Halo3 or Gears of War.
Now get God of War 2 or 3 on xbox360 and then I'll be happy.

"Kojima told Official Xbox Magazine that he feels the Metal Gear series is "made for for PlayStation platform." While his development studio, Kojima Productions, is working on Xbox 360 titles, these will be all-new games that are set outside of Metal Gear -- that's according to Computer and Video Games magazine." -- GamePro.com

Well I think Kojima is nothing more than a Sony Lapdog, I mean I am sick and tired of getting Konami's leftover's after they put all the "Good" games on PS2/3. they must be pretty brainless not tapping into at 10 mill user base by the end of the year. I used to think that Konami cared somewhat for the gaming comunnity, but no, if we want to play MGS4, we have to dish out 600 bucks (sony won't drop the price until they start making a profit, people) just to play it. Honestly, from the looks of Contra, they could really care less about us "Westerners". Even if Kojima did release MGS4 on 360 it would probably look alot worse than the PS3 version, just because he is nothing more than Phony's bitch. besides, they would have to bring MGS3 over to Xbox360, since the original xbox is pretty much done. So they probably wouldn't even try to make it any better. I swear if they screw up Castlevania SOTN.....

I think this is in a way unfair, I love my Xbox 360 and I dont plan on buying a ps3 any time soon, but for those poor souls who bought a ps3, they need something to hope for so that their world wont come crashing down if they realize that they spent 500 or more on an over hyped piece of technology with no good games...what the hell am I saying!!, this would be perfectly F'in awsome, Im willing to be that metal gear will look better on 360 or even run smoother and I know for a fact that it will definetly have better lighting effects and richer textures.

It would be great for the Xbox because PS3 would lose its last mega exclusive. But to be honest, I have always thought that MGS games were a bit rubbish. I won't be buying it that's for sure.

RE4 was built on the GC and moved to the PS2 not too much afterwards. They obviously weren't built side by side and the architecture is rather different. Sure, the PS2 version is missing some effects (lighting, water, etc), but it worked fine.
So this isn't something I think would take them a ridiculous amount of time, assuming it was true. They could work on it now and still have it more or less finished by the time the PS3 version hits. Afterall, it's still almost a year away.

While it would be a good thing for the 360, I myself couldn't care less. I've tried playing 2 different MGS games and hated them both. I just don't get into it at all.

I think people are just going to have to realize that exclusives are coming to an end, unless it's a first party developement. I'm not a MSG fan, but I know how upset Sony fanboys are by this, so i find it entertaining cause that's all they use to talk about is all their exclusives. So what do you do when each week that list seems to be getting shorter????

It's great to here this possibility, but I really wish that there would be more creative games for the 360 and not just target the FPS/sports/3rd person blood and guts market. Viva Pinata is a great start, how about some wacky yet simple and playable for everyone games like Katamari or whatever? I know games for next gen take much more time and money, but I mean come on 360 Devs, take a chance! Otherwise, I love my 360 and am eagerly waiting for Guitar Hero to come out (downloadble songs PLEASE!)

Fight Night Round 3 was also trumpeted as a PS3 exclusive. Later in development EA switched gears and started a 360 version. We all know how beautifully it turned out even in the short(er) amount of development time.
I too dislike the MGS series. I've tried a few and they just aren't my cup of tea, but this would be a great title for the 360. Not only is the 360 controller better suited for such a game, but MGS is one of the two big hitters (the other being FF) that Sony has up their sleeve. A loss that might just inflict enough pain to snap that company back to reality and get them in gear to become competitive again rather than relying on brand recognition...
Awwww, what the heck am I saying. Sony products ALL rely on brand recognition. It's been YEARS since a Sony product was synonymous with quality.

Number 3 you're so silly, didn't you hear that MGS:2 Sons of the Patriots was on the Xbox like 8 months after the PS3 version? I know, I have it and the one on the 'cube sucked nut, only because of the controller :(
But to be fair I don't have much faith in the series anymore either. One was ground breaking, Two was a twist, but a boring one after you found out you just played the first game over again as a different character. I also picked up the third installment and stopped playing the game within ten minutes because of the terrible graphics (to be fair it was after I had been playing the 360 for a while and forgot what PS2 games looked like) and the horrible control scheme.
Personally I'll be waiting for the average reviews from metacritic just to see, and even then I'll rent it first....or you know, play the demo since we have Marketplace....or I could D/L it from the Playstation store and see how it is way in advance :)
