In a crushing blow to people who believe everything they see on the internet, German-language blog Xbox-Archiv.de reports (crappy English web translation here) that Microsoft Senior Product Manager Boris Schneider-Johne confirmed the 100GB 360 hard drive supposedly pictured at X06 Korea is a photo-shopped fake. According to Boris, there was no such product announcement. Additionally, Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb told our own Richard Mitchell that the 100GB tale "looks like fiction" to him. This should clear up the confusion resulting from conflicting reports on the veracity of this story.

The German Microsoft product manager quoted (Boris Schneider-Johne) merely said 'No large hard drive has been announced'. So far.
Sure the slide shown was a crude mockup, but to me all this means is that not everyone at Microsoft are happy about news leaking the way it did. It was an official Microsoft press event that this slide was shown at in Korea after all.

I don't believe it is fake. For the bullet point that accompanies the picture (the one located behind the man) you can clearly see a "10...". It certainly isn't a 10GB HD so it must be 100. Unless they are claiming that was photoshopped too.

I believe this might be a cover up for some information that Microsoft Korea probity shouldn't of said. Why would they have it on a slide at the Korean X06 and then try to say its false? They did this before (aka 1080p, some people in the staff saying its unneeded then they announce an update to natively support it). Plus, he said there's nothing announced yet, meaning they might be working on a bigger HDD but nothing, at least here, has been officially announced.

And good thing too, if the 20GB is that expensive can you image how expensive the 100GB would have been.

Originally I took it for granted that they'd release a bigger hard drive so I didn't pay it much mind when the 100GB was "announced".
However now that I look at it... the announcer guy in front is decidedly jaggy don't you agree? Photoshop?
