NFS Carbon race modes revealed

EternalGaming scored some details on Need For Speed Carbon from the same source who leaked early deets on NFS Most Wanted:

Race modes include the now classic Drift, Sprint, Speedtrap, and Circuit modes as well as the brand new Canyon series of events that include the Canyon Duel, Canyon Race, and Canyon Drift. These Canyon series of events will have you hanging around tight turns that force you to dent the guard rail as you speed by at breakneck speeds.

They also report that the police will be several times stronger than in Most Wanted, and that you'll have the ability to customize your crew's rides.

1. Need for Speed: More lame ricer pimp-my-ride shit

I'm so sick of it. The "Need for Speed" name used to represent a good racing game whenever a new one was annouced, but that all ended when the first Underground came out IMHO.

2. but what is a good racing game? dragging down a strip? doing smooth easy laps? doing hairpin turns?

isn't it all of them?

the real point of Underground is to "show off"... but another point is to customize your car for your style of driving. like acceleration? maybe an overall top speed? or maybe you like hitting turns and NOT flying off the road. if i'm not mistaken, before underground NFS didn't allow you to "pimp" your ride (for show OR go).

so, unless you plan on racing only Nascar or Formula 1 tracks... you'll need to adjust your car to make it around whatever tracks there may be.

here's another thing... sure if everyone had the same car, it'd be "skill" to constantly beat other players... but after a while, doesn't it seem like you just memorized the track... hit it at this speed, do this, do that... same ol, same ol.

but if you can change the way the car rides, increase handling at the cost of top speed, or acceleration... then every race (assuming the cars vary from race to race) is different... maybe you have to change your timing on hitting this turn, change your speed... it's all different... drift/powerslide just a little sooner for a little longer this time. or draft another car to make up for you decrease in top speed.

people like that, don't you?

sure, i don't mind if they did less of the flash though.... as long as i can change the "go" and not only the "show".

3. I just hope it features better graphics than the previous versions, possibly built on a new engine, but that wont be likely. The trailer for Carbon didnt really show anything new...

I like where the series is going, they're not just using the same tracks over and over again, then reversing them when you race so it seems different.

The dark and gritty feel of Most Wanted was thrilling, though the customizing was a bit on the "blah" side.

"Police will be several times stronger" I cant wait for that! If they have as good (or better!) A.I as they did in MW, I'm ready!

*Goobers you should get like +2 stars for that comment!

4. It looks cool...I just hope they work on handling. Underground 1/2 handeld good...But Most wanted was pitiful, SO if this can at least handle like underground, I'll likely get it.
