F.E.A.R confirmed for Xbox 360

F.E.A.R-mongers have long suspected that the frightenly good PC title is a logical port to to the Xbox 360 due to the system-crushing game's technological kinship with Condemned: Criminal Origins. Fear no more. The contents page from a future issue of OXM (scanned and posted in the Gamespot forums) is touting the first screenshots of the 360 version. The headline says "The most destructive shooter ever made tears up the Xbox 360." Hell yeah! Now let's hope Monolith scares up some new content.

Not to be confused with nameless F.E.A.R sequel also being developed for next-gen consoles.

1. F.E.A.R. is a great game, played through it three times on the PC. I hope they put something new in it so I can play through it again. If it's just a straight port I'm gonna be really dissapointed. Maybe I'd pick it up for some F.E.A.R. xbox live action.

2. GOD, what was the multiplayer like?

3. Very glad to hear their releasing F.E.A.R for Xbox 360. I heard its a great game on PC, and will be a great addition to the 360 lineup. I hope they do some graphic upgrades and/or new content for the game.

I kind of suspected they would do this, especially since Condemned uses a variant of the F.E.A.R engine.

4. mike: The multiplayer was alright. The maps are small so it's very close quarters. The game has some really good weapons. I didn't go too much into the multiplayer frankly. But if you have an alright PC there is a multiplayer demo. The game is mainly focused on single player so this isn't a halo killer by any degree.

6. To #3

Did you say graphics upgrades? I hardly think the 360 can do any better then the PC version considering the superior resolutions PC graphics cards kick out these days and the 360 stuck down at 1080i. FEAR is one of the best looking PC games ever. Don't get your hopes up. However, this is still great news for 360 owners that can play on the comfort of their living room couches, surround sound, big screen TV and wireless controller. Does it get any better? ;)

7. To #6

The PC may kick out higher resolutions than the 360 (because of display 'limitations'), but that doesn't mean that the 360 is going to see a loss in graphics. Resolution is one of the LAST things you do to make the game look better. A bump with shadows, lighting, AA, etc will do wonders, but a res bump will only help if you if you are using a huge display and sitting 1-2 feet from it. Since you are sitting 8-15 feet back from your TV when you play a console game, 1080i is sufficient. Also, unless you have some type of SLI'ed 7900 gtx powerhouse computer, you probably will see an improvement with a 360 version of the game. Since most people don't have this setup....

All they need to add, in my opinion, is good widescreen support (!!!), a few new multiplayer modes (objective based multiplayer would be great), and maybe some new areas in single player, and I'm sold.

8. Well, as good as the game already looks, its always possible to do some kind of minor or major graphics upgrade if they wanted. Though its not necessary because the game looks very good as it is. But if they did do any upgrades, they could also always release these upgrades for PC as a downloadable upgrade.

But no matter what, it should definitely be worth picking up, and will be a very good looking on 360 as it was on the PC.

9. To #6, Resolution is hardly an indicator of graphics quality. I believe #3 was referring to texture, lighting, & geometry, something the 360 can do much better than the top of the line PC cards could do when FEAR came out. Getting back to your "stuck at 1080i" comment though, you do realize that 1080i is a higher pixel resolution than 1600x1200, right? I'll let your comment go, since as I already stated resolution is only a part of the graphical fidelity equation.
