Blood on the Sand: the Burnout of shooters
In an interview with Xbox World 360 magazine (as reported by OXM UK), the producer of 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand, Julian Waddows, stated that he hopes Fiddy's new game will do for shooters what Burnout did for the racing genre. He adds further that he wants the game to do, "What Diablo did for RPGs. We wanted to take all that makes the genre fun and exaggerate it." An over-the-top, exaggerated shooter? Oh no, that's never been done before. Seriously though, we kid Blood on the Sand. After all, we certainly wouldn't wish any game to be bad. In theory, there's nothing wrong with Waddows hopes. We just hope that his hopes come to fruition. Otherwise, we'll probably just lose hope altogether.

Fiddy's friend says Blood on the Sand "as good as Gears of War"
This should allay everyone's fears about 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand. According to TeamXbox, a member of 50 Cent's G-Unit crew, Tony Yayo, has been quoted as saying that Blood on the Sand is "looking as good as Gears of War." Lofty words to be sure. Of course, given the source, we're a little skeptical. Fortunately, Yayo doesn't seem to be the only one impressed with the game, as TeamXbox also reports that Epic's own Mark Rein told CVG he was "blown away" by the game last year. In fact, even our own Terrence Stasse managed to enjoy the game during a recent Sierra event.
Who knows, maybe Blood on the Sand will make us all forget about Bulletproof (or die tryin').

id leaves the ESA
At this point the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) must be thinking, "another one bites the dust."Today developer id Software revealed to GamePolitics its intention of leaving the ESA group of members. Following suit with their publisher Activision, who recently left the organization with Vivendi, and Lucasarts, id has yet to release a statement explaining the decision.
The ESA has yet to comment on the decision that we're sure the organization hopes will not become an industry-wide trend.

Ghostbusters game official, full cast returning

Hey, remember all the hullabaloo earlier this year about the Ghostbusters game? Well, put on your proton packs because the Ghostbusters game is now official. No, it's not the Zootfly created prototype that started this mess, but rather an entirely new project created by Sierra (most recently known for TimeShift). According to Variety, Vivendi -- Sierra's parent company -- forked over a gargantuan sum to purchase the license from Sony. The game is scheduled to release in the fall of 2008.
But all of that malarkey is just an hors d'oeuvre for the real news: nearly the entire cast of the films has signed on to reprise their roles in the game, including their voices and likenesses. That's Bill "Pete" Murray, Harold "Egon" Ramis, Ernie "Winston" Hudson, and Dan "Ray" Aykroyd. Not only that, but several supporting characters will be returning as well, including Annie Potts as Janine. Aykroyd and Ramis will be writing the story for the game as well.

X3F hands-on: TimeShift

TimeShift, the time-bending first person shooter from Saber Interactive has had something of a bumpy development history. Originally destined to be an original Xbox title -- Official Xbox Magazine even had a demo of it at one point -- the game has since switched publishers (from Atari to Vivendi) and moved to the Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. We had a chance to play the game at E3, and it looks like the extra development time was worth the wait.
New shifty TimeShift multiplayer deets

IGN recently took a moment to talk to Kyle Peschel, lead producer of TimeShift, the upcoming time-bending shooter from Saber Interactive and Vivendi. The focus of multiplayer, according to Peschel, is customization. Players will be able to create and name their own special game modes, which they can save for later use. Several aspects of the game, from damage ratios to gravity to run speed, will all be adjustable by players. As Peschel put it, players can design a gametype just to "instantly offset their buddy who comes over who is nothing but a spawn camping whore." Sounds good to us. On time manipulation in multiplayer, Peschel doesn't go into details, but notes that time powers won't work exactly as they do in single player, as it's hardly fair for one player to freeze and entire field of players and wreak havoc. Hopefully we'll hear some more specifics on multiplayer time control soon.
World in Conflict may be headed our way

World in Conflict is quite the interactive and pretty war game that any RTS 360 fan would love get their hands on as PC fans have been eagerly awaiting its release. Only time will tell and an official response from the developers will cool down this rumor-wildfire. So RTS fans, would you like yourself a giant helping of some World in Conflict?
TimeShift trailer bends time on XBLM

The recently released trailer for TimeShift, the time-bending shooter from Sierra, has now landed on Xbox Live Marketplace. For those of you with unsuitable streaming capabilities, you can finally watch the trailer in all its high definition glory. In case you need a recap, TimeShift allows players to manipulate time in myriad ways. For example, you can stop time in order to evade oncoming bullets (and fire a few return bullets as well). Granted, time manipulation isn't exactly a new concept, but TimeShift looks to at least make it interesting. Go download the trailer and enjoy. Of course, if you're not picky about resolution, you could always just watch the streaming trailer right now.
TimeShift is set to arrive this fall.
TimeShift video bends reality in a good way
Shortly after a handful of new screens, a new trailer of TimeShift has assaulted the internets with both time-altering guns blazing. The main character used time powers to thwart a squad of baddies and a tank. The trailer is pre-rendered, but the concepts within it are pretty tantalizing. Watching the character stop time, disarm a soldier and wipe out all the rest of them is pretty nifty. And taking out the tank ... well, we don't want to spoil it, but it's pretty cool. Now, if the actual game can live up to the excitement generated by this trailer, we may just be on to something special.
New Timeshift screens abound

Xboxyde got a hold of some very pretty screens of Timeshift, the FPS from developer Saber Interactive and publisher Vivendi. The water effects from the rain and the textures on the side of the building are a sight to behold, showing the power the developer's Saber 3D engine. Other screens show some sexy smoke effects and minor explosions. While details are a little scarce on the game, other than some of the cool time manipulation effects, are you intrigued by how its playing out?
