We can think of nothing more enjoyable than the sheer awesomeness of Halo 3 and everyone's favorite Spartan, Master Chief. Then again, we can also think of nothing better than our childhood memories of transforming and playing with our old-school Transformers toys. And now we can have both.
Friendly eBay seller digitalworld40 skillfully crafted a custom transforming toy that blends our obsessive love of everything Master Chief with our nostalgic addiction of Transformers into one toy. Meet the Master Chief Transformer! This custom toy is an APC 117 Transformer who is artfully decorated to look like Master Chief when "maximized". Do we love it? Yes. Do we want it? Yes. Can we have it? Eh, probably not. The $200 price tag would force us to eat nothing but Macaroni & Cheese for the entire month of February. Then again, Mac & Cheese isn't all that bad ...
Big news everyone! Big news! The Xbox Live Marketplace has just been graced with brand new Transformers: The Game DLC called Transformers Unlockables. And guess what? You're going to love this, it's nothing more than a cheat code download that unlocks all the game's bonus items and upgrades. Double guess what? The content costs 500 Microsoft points, which is sweetness to the fifth power! ... end sarcasm.
You know, we'd expect this type of paid cheat code content from EA (since they have a rather lengthy track record for doing it), but funny thing is that Transformers: The Game is published by ... Activision. We guess since they've reach EA's publishing scale post Vivendi merger they've also decided to adopt EA's XBLM business strategies. Bad Acti, go to your room and think about what you're doing. You're grounded!
The past few days' new Marketplace content has brought a few gamer pictures, themes, videos and other downloadable treasures, but be warned that most will cost you. Transformers is all the rage right now and so you can download a handful of Transformers themes for 150 Microsoft points apiece and two picture packs that run you 200 Microsoft points. Also, there's a new Carcassonne picture pack, Class Pics 110 picture pack, Ninja picture pack and a free Volkswagen gamer pic (where did that come from?) for Canadian Xbox Live members. And if themes/gamer pictures aren't your cup of tea then download the Fable 2 demo video featuring Peter Molyneux or spend your cash on some Marvel: Ultimate Alliance strategy guides. Complete list of Monday and Tuesday's new Marketplace content posted after the break.
Ladies and gentlemen, girls and boys, squirrels and hamsters, it's a big week for our beloved Xbox 360. Not only do we finally get to sample the heart-eating goodness of The Darkness (a game we're giving away, by the way), but we also have a plethora of other games arriving as well. In fact, there are so many games coming out this week, we're going to whip out (that's right) a bulleted list. Behold:
That's a lot of games. We're particularly excited about Overlord, which has been sitting patiently in our rental queue for some time. Are you planning on picking up any of these titles?
The fellas over at GamingTalkHQ are giving away a whole bundle of Transformers interchangeable faceplates for your 360 and so we thought we'd pass along the word. The faceplates include twelve interchangeable designs per pack (hence the transform reference) and come in two flavors; Autobots and Decepticons. To win, head on over to their site and comment on the post by Friday, when they'll choose four winners who'll win both Transformer faceplate packs. Long live the Decepticons!
There are 4 Transformers: The Game videos available on Marketplace. One of them is the opening cinematic of the game, whilst the other three are all interviews. The first interview is with the game developer itself, and the other two are with lead actors from the film, Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox. Also worth noting is that in the text field that usually has some information like the developer or something above the file size is "<String text>". Very nice. Either way, the interviews vary from 67 to 94 MB a piece and the cinematic weighs in at 102 MB. Minor flub in the tagged information notwithstanding, are you interested in this movie to game adaptation, or do you think it will just end up as Achievement fodder?
The Achievements for Transformers: The Game have become available, although the vast majority have been hidden under the guise of Secret Achievements. The naming convention of the Achievements is following the trend of using humorous pop culture references. Our favourites is the Back to the Future reference in "We Don't Need Roads" or "Mad Skillz" for its unnecessary yet visually amusing "z". Either way, the game looks to be an interesting title, will you be checking it out?
Yesterday, we showed you the box art for Transformers: The Game Cybertron Edition, though at the time we didn't have any further details other than how it will look on store shelves. Well, now we've got the rundown of what sets the CE apart. First off, it's exclusively available at EBStop, which could be another article on its own. The CE will also have two bonus "Cybertron" levels, one for Decepticons and the other for Autobots. The second DVD will come with Behind the Scenes interviews with Shia Labeouf, as well as the voice actors for Optimus Prime and Megatron, Peter Cullen and Frank Welker. Finally, a prequel comic book will be packed in the limited edition packaging, and you can have it all for the MSRP of $69.99. Do you think it's worth it?
This time, however, the headline doesn't fit the slogan's style. In all seriousness though, we've got the box art for both versions of Transformers: The Game, the standard edition that mirrors the movie poster, and the Cybetron Edition, that features the Autobot and Decepticon's respective logos, playing further into the choosing of sides that we discussed earlier today. So here's a different choice, fanboys, without any further knowledge on price or added features, which of these two versions will you pick up?
First off, note that the headline is supposed to be read in the same tone as the "More than meets the eye" or "Robots in disguise" slogans. Planet Xbox 360 has a cool High Definition video about the choice in the upcoming Transformers game based off the film of ironically the same name. Either way, you've got a choice to make: Autobots or Decepticons? Whichever you choose, you'll still be able to wreak havoc in the destructible environments. So, we ask again: Autobot or Decepticon, fanboy?
Yesterday, Activision gave us a sneak peek into their upcoming game Transformers: The Game by releasing a screenshot. Yes, they only released a single screenshot, but it is an exciting screenshot none the less. We don't get too much more information from this single screen, but it looks like the art style is more on the "dirty" side of things, and is it us or did they just release a somewhat blurry screenshot? No matter, we'll be seeing plenty of Transformers goodness this year ... like it or not.
Considering it has a transforming 360, it's no surprise that Transformers the movie will serve as inspiration for Transformers The Game. Activision has made a new fact sheet available for the game, revealing its features and platforms. The game is set to hit every console known to man, including our beloved 360. The game is being developed by Traveller's Tales, who recently made a splash with the LEGO Star Wars games. Transformers The Game will feature both Autobot and Decepticon campaigns, allowing players to choose good or evil, respectively. Player characters will be able to transform on the fly, offering various combat options. The environments are destructible and can also be used as weapons during combat. The fact sheet also mentions "head-to-head" battles though it is unclear if this refers to multiplayer or not. The game promises a huge lineup of playable characters including Optimus Prime, Megatron, Ironhide, Bumblebee, Barricade, and our personal favorite, Starscream.
Transformers The Game is currently scheduled for a summer 2007 release.
