Fallout 3 gameplay video overload

Over at Gametrailers.com, Bethesda unleashed a video flood of new Fallout 3 gameplay footage that'll more than satisfy your Fallout sweet tooth (if there's such a thing). The four new videos showcase a wide variety of Fallout 3 gameplay including tech, combat and some V.A.T.S. goodness. Watch the video above and make the jump for an additional three other videos. It's Fallout 3, 'nuff said.

Bethesda's Fallout 3 has gone gold

It's finished. Bethesda's little massive RPG that could, Fallout 3 has officially gone gold and development is officially complete. Just in time to make it's October 28th release! And, honestly, we don't have to hype up Fallout 3 any more than it already is. Truth be told, Fallout 3 is going to be your RPG crack for the foreseeable year or two. How do we know? Because Bethesda developed it and anything Bethesda does is pure ... well, gold.

E308: Fallout 3 'Perfect Life' trailer

Fallout 3 is the long awaited sequel to the classic post-apocalyptic role-playing Fallout series. In the 'Perfect Life' trailer developer Bethesda showcases the humorous side of Fallout 3 -- taking jabs at culture much like the original titles were so well known for. The trailer is available on the Xbox Live Marketplace now.

E308: Fallout 3; including exclusive DLC for 360

Coming to us from the developers of Oblivion and Morrowind, Fallout 3 is the post-apocalyptic role playing game featuring the 1950's styled world and based on the classic PC series. After the preview in the press conference with it's faux "informational video" advertising Vault-tec Microsoft brought out Fallout 3 producer, Todd Howard, and he played the game live in front of the crowd. The newest trailer (shown to the crowd before the gameplay) will be on XBLM soon.

The demonstrated gameplay definitely shows off how far the Oblivion tech has come, showing of vehicles, robots, dismemberment and more. Also, Fallout 3 will have substantial exclusive DLC for 360 and GFW.

New Fallout 3 screens and details

In a second fan Q&A over at Bethesda, Todd Howard has answered a collection of fan questions taken from the forums. The questions asked range from armor and inventory to children, non-human creatures and more. Check the list below for a quick run down. Oh, and Todd also released a few new screens too.
  • Armor sets come in two pieces, body and head
  • Inventory limit is based on weight
  • Children and essential NPC's are unkillable
  • Good/Evil karma system relating to in-game choices
  • Crimes committed against specific groups are known to all in the group throughout the game world
  • NPC's navigate via a mesh instead of via a point to point system like in Oblivion and Morrowind
  • Like Oblivion the game uses a skill list and those skills determine maximum possible effectiveness in battle

Real life Pip-Boy or wacky geek clock? You decide

Bethesda must really have faith in Fallout 3. Not only are they doing a "normal" collectors edition, but now they're actually going for the coveted Cat-Helmet Award® by actually creating some sort of uber-collectors edition. Available only through Amazon, the only difference between the "Survival Edition" and the normal CE is the replica Pip-Boy, which is actually a digital clock. Maybe some of the Fallout faithful out there will be willing to shell out $129.95 plus shipping for this, but frankly, we already have an alarm clock. We hate it, we don't need another one. Still, it'll be interesting to see how its sales pan out. Even though it's an Amazon exclusive, could it eventually see the price drops that the Halo 3 one did?

Fallout 3: Three new screens

Last night Bethesda Softworks dropped three fresh screens for the upcoming, and highly anticipated, first-person roleplaying title Fallout 3. From the looks of the latest screens it certainly seems that Bethesda has nailed the world that wraps the storyline, much like the world did in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

The first screen crashes a birthday party being held within a diner, complete with decorations and cone birthday lids! The second is more in line with what we've seen in the past, a monster engulfed in flames being taken to task with a mini-gun. The last screen shows the main character, who is fully customizable in looks and in specs, trying to coax a dog to him with food (we know this because of the image's original filename). We're getting excited for this one folks!

Fallout 3: Three new screens

One of the most anticipated sequels of the year is Bethesda Softworks' first foray into the Fallout series with Fallout 3. The role-playing adventure has been compared to The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, except in the future ... and if that future blew up a few times. Our pimp-daddy site, Joystiq, recently put their impressions of the game online along with three new screens that show off the post apocalyptic wonderland. Check our their impressions and peep the new screens in our existing Fallout 3 gallery.

Rumor: GameStop dates Prototype, Splinter Cell V, Sonic Unleashed, Rogue Warrior and more

One of our loyal X3F Army tipsters has outed himself as an employee of GameStop, but to make up for it he sent us a camera phone image of a few release dates. While you should take these dates with a grain of salt some of them are accurate, specifically Ninja Gaiden 2, Soul Calibur IV and Civilization Revolution.

Fueling the fire of the Sega's Sonic Unleashed leak is a release date of November 4 for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and PS2. EA's NFL Head Coach 09 is slated for a September 3 release and based on the release of the original in relation to Madden, the time frame seems accurate. A few titles we haven't heard much from are Bethesda Softworks' Rogue Warrior (November 10) and Edios Interactive's Shellshock 2: Blood Trails (September 1), which is being developed by the team at Rebellion.

Other dates include Sierra's Prototype from Radical and the Xbox 360 exclusive Splinter Cell: Conviction from Ubisoft which are dated for October 21 and October 2 respectfully.

Remember, pre-order focused retailers tend to guess-timate releases on a regular basis to structure their sales goals for the final two quarters of the year. However, some of the names on this list make us really glad we have a rumor category.

[Thanks, Travisto]

Fallout 3 due for simultaneous release

Speaking with videogaming247.com, executive producer Todd Howard for Fallout 3 said that unlike the last Bethesda Softworks release, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, their latest title will launch simultaneous across all platforms.

The Xbox 360, PS3 and PC versions of Fallout 3 are expected to launch in the third quarter of 2008 and takes place 200 years in the future in a post-apocalyptic Washington, DC. We personally can't wait to see what the title has to offer especially considering the team is looking for inspiration from various forms of media, specifically Cormac McCarthy's 'The Road.'
