FutureShop: Force Unleashed, Gears free with Xbox 360

Canadian retailer FutureShop has bundled a pair of titles, valued at $99, with every purchase of an Arcade or 60GB Xbox 360 console. For a limited time Gears of War and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will be included with each console purchase. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is the key title included in this bundle as it has just been released and is receiving mostly positive buzz.

Buyers note that the version of Gears of War included in the bundle appears to be the original version and not the recently released special edition which includes new multiplayer maps among other treats.

Force Unleashed demo breaks Marketplace record

Harnessing its force-like powers, Lucas Arts is gloating that the Star Wars: The Force Unleashed demo that released to the XBLM last month, broke a prestigious Marketplace record. Specifically, Lucas Arts claims that the Force Unleashed demo was downloaded 1 million times off the Marketplace in an eight day period, which would be a day quicker than the previous demo record holder Too Human. With demo downloads like that, The Force Unleashed should easily eclipse 5 million copies at retail ... HA!

Lucas unleashes Force Unleashed demo to XBLM

Today is the day our Star Wars: The Force Unleashed demo hopes and dreams finally come true. Because today is the day the 904MB Force Unleashed demo releases to the Xbox Live Marketplace for all to enjoy, that is if you're packing enough HDD space and are connected to Live. If both conditions are true for you then you'll be unleashing the force in the TIE Fighter Construction Facility in no time. Give the demo a download and share with us what your gut gaming reaction is.

Force Unleashed demo attacks the XBLM this week

Just as Lucas Arts promised us back in July, a new Star Wars: The Force Unleashed demo will be released to the Xbox Live Marketplace this week. More specifically, on the morning of Thursday, August 21st. Also as promised, the Force Unleashed demo will include a tutorial mode to master the Force Grip power and a complete level of gameplay set in a TIE Fighter Construction Facility where we're guessing a bunch of objects explode real good. May the force be with you (and also with you).

[Thanks, to everyone who sent this in]

Force Unleashed demo unleashes to XBLM in Aug.

The possibility was discussed months ago and now forceunleashed.org has learned that Lucas Arts' own marketing manager Matt Shell has confirmed that a Star Wars: The Force Unleashed demo will be releasing to the Xbox Live Marketplace sometime next month. Interesting too is mention that the demo will feature a different experience than the game itself, with a remade Tie Fighter Construction Facility, extra force powers unlocked and a special conclusion to the level that isn't seen in the retail version. Force Unleashed, good or bad? We'll give you an answer next month.

Force Unleashed launch trailer; minor spoilers

Those of you who really care about "spoliers" should shy away from this Force Unleashed trailer knowing simply that the game is looking good. For those who can see these type of "twists" coming a mile away (it is Star Wars after all) the spoilers won't really matter. Plus, we're sure there's even more too come and we can't help but be distracted by the wooden voice acting of the apprentice's love interest.

The Force Unleashed story video

First and foremost, if you're interested in not having anything at all spoiled regarding the story behind Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, don't watch the video. Just keep reading. If you're actually sane though and really couldn't care less just hit play already!

To tell you the truth, our feelings regarding the game are still rather mixed (the gameplay portions of the video still look a bit uninspired) but this clip definitely convinced us that the story is more than just something to skip past. Considering we were already sold just based on the game's tech crap, we're much more excited for the game than we were before.

GDC08: The Force Unleashed - Producer Interview

In the aftermath of GDC and the releasing of more Force Unleashed information, the game's Producer, Cameron Suey, sat down (so to speak) with the guys from Gamersyde and gave them a bit of an insight into the development of the newest entry in the Star Wars saga. The interview contains no bombshells, but has plenty of interesting little tidbits, such as the reveal of some limited RPG elements, discussions of the game's enemies and their abilities, as well as talk of the new tech, the DMM, and Euphoria. Check the video out if you're at all interested in the game, as Cameron does have some interesting anecdotes about the gamplay. Set to be released this summer, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is really starting to shape up well, and we just can't wait.

And as with the previous gameplay videos, sorry in advance to readers who are having issues with slow loads. We still love ya'll.

The Force Unleashed ... in Vanity Fair?

After having been off the radar a bit since it's announcement, the hype train for The Force Unleashed is finally leaving the station. Though it's destinations do seem to be a rather strange: the latest being a three page article at, of all places, Vanity Fair's website. In the article, the ostensibly mainstream writer is actually rather friendly to the game, praising the team, the technology and more. Unfortunately, if you've been following the game at all then there isn't really much news here.

The real news for us followers is the host of new screens from the game, exclusive to Vanity Fair. Though they are quite small, they do give an idea of the visual fidelity that the team is shooting for this summer as well as the first look at few characters outside of concept art (Shaak Ti, and your protocol droid). There is a video up as well, which while slow to get going and rather short, is still full of eight kinds of awesome. The article itself has some nice tidbits even if you have been following the game (such as the confirmation that you will play as Darth Vader for at least a bit of the game) and is a good read, but it's Vanity Fair, they're not going to be dropping any megatons with this one. Still, it's nice to see video games moving toward the mainstream in even a small way.
