As Criterion Games wraps up development on the soon-to-be-released Cagney update for Burnout Paradise, the team is already experimenting with what future updates could bring to the title. Previously announced bikes, night-time driving and a new island have been revealed as key additions coming to the game but now Criterion has revealed the team is experimenting with airplanes. Continuing the developer's admiration for high speed, planes could be an interesting addition to the series but it doesn't appear that anything is set in stone just yet.

Until then we'll make do with the 3 new online modes, 70 online timed challenges, ranked racing improvements and live updates page all releasing for free with the Cagney update, which has been pushed to July 14.

[via Big Download]

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Say hello to July's Artist of the Month, Circo

Going back to their traditional roots of only awarding one Artist of the Month (darn you May and your four award honors!), Xbox.com has given July's prestigious monthly artist honors to the latin rockers Circo.
Hey, remember that rumor that Microsoft was developing a service called My GamerPad that was an awful lot like Sony's (still unfinished) Home service on the PS3? You can stick a fork in that rumor. It's done. DCEmu reports that the supposed image from My GamerPad (top left) is nothing more than a Photoshopped version of an image taken from deviantART user saffiq. So there you go kids. Remember, if it looks Photoshopped, smells Photoshopped, and tastes Photoshopped, it's <strike>a duck</strike> Photoshopped. You might also want to remember to make sure no one is around when it comes time to sniff and lick your computer screen though.

Well kids, you aren't alone. EA has acknowledged the fact that some Xbox 360 Bad Company gamers are having troubles connecting to the game servers. Though, take comfort in the fact that they are "monitoring stats non-stop and are working with several partners to locate any possible flashpoints and eradicate any hostiles we encounter." Ha! And until they release a fix, EA recommends simply shutting off your Xbox for 20 minutes, then giving it an old fashioned restart. With Activision and Blizzard working together to achieve total world domination, the fan favorite track "I Am Murloc" was released free for Guitar Hero III on Thursday. Surprisingly the World of Warcraft based track is no slouch in the difficulty department and, while it isn't a replacement for "Through the Fire and Flames," it may pose a challenge for nimble fingered casual players. Whether or not you enjoy the World of Warcraft reference, the song is a nice added bonus for gamers who are looking to freshen up their Guitar Hero III experience as they wait on Guitar Hero: Aerosmith or more information on Guitar Hero: World Tour.

Update: Readers are telling us that this is actually a custom Guitar Hero II track, but you get the idea of what to expect. Think of it as a dramatic re-enactment of what you'll get! First being the Play & Win where, once registered, Bad Company gamers can win all kinds of swag, autographed goods and one lucky winner will even come away with a gold dipped Xbox 360. Sounds expensive! The other Live Weekend event is a Play with Developers event that goes down early tomorrow morning from 3-7:00AM eastern. With the new DRM tool finally available on Xbox.com, we're sure that everyone has plenty of questions. Thankfully, Joystiq has the answers you need. What can you transfer? How many consoles can you transfer to and from? And then there are questions you may not have though about like: can you sell your licenses to someone else? What about moving licenses to the next Xbox. Head over to Joystiq for their Q&A with Marc Whitten, general manager of Xbox Live.

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Microsoft releases tool to fix Xbox 360 DRM

Filed under: News, Xbox Live, Xbox Live Marketplace

It's finally here! Microsoft's promised tool to transfer game and video content licenses from an old console to your new Xbox 360 is now available. In other words, this little online doodad will fix the DRM issues everyone has experienced after either upgrading their Xbox 360 or after dealing with a RROD. To get your DRM issues fixed, simply head over to Xbox.com and begin the license transfer process. It smartly (almost too smartly) knows which content is associated with which of your Xbox 360s and will guide you through the transfer process. We're told you need to have access to Xbox.com as well as having your Xbox 360 connected to Xbox Live. Just watch the video above and Major Nelson will guide you through the process. OH HAPPY DAY!

Interesting side note: The license transferring process can only be completed once every twelve months and that you have to re-download each piece of old content back onto your Xbox 360 to get the updated license. Icky.

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

IGN's Chobot and Strategize headed to Inside Xbox

In an effort to take some of the Inside Xbox workload off of Major Nelson (that man is a video content machine!), Microsoft and IGN have teamed up to offer a weekly dose of IGN's Strategize via the Xbox 360's Inside Xbox. Update: X3F Live has ended for the night. Thank you for joining us and stay tuned for more X3F Live events in the future!

In order to make up for yesterday's failed attempt to play Team Fortress 2 due to game crashes, we're throwing down in a little Halo 3 action tonight starting at 9:30PM EST! Unfortunately not everyone will be available to play but those of us that bring you the news you crave (and some you don't) will be partying up for some custom game action.

As usual add X3FLIVE to your friends list and use the Friends of Friends feature to track down Richard (SenseiRam), Dustin (SuperDunners), Alexander (Sli Xander) and/or Xav (Snypz) and try to jump into an open session. Anyone start a "Save Terrence's Internets" petition yet?

If you can't get X3FLIVE on your friends list and really want to jump in with us, send Xav (Gamertag: Snypz) a message over Xbox Live requesting an invite and we'll send one your way sometime throughout the night.

Permalink | Email this | Comments

Team Fortress 2: Meet the Sniper

Someone quick remind the lightning pace of the internet what Team Fortress 2 is. We here at X3F love our old-school FPS's just as much as the new-school ones, and at a price of 250MSpts, the upcoming DLC for Marathon 2: Durandal looks to get us back into the archaic swing of things. The new Jjaro Map Pack will hit the Marketplace tomorrow and includes twelve multiplayer maps, two Achievements (worth 30pts total) and three new multiplayer modes (King of the Hill, Kill the Man with the Ball, and Tag).

For those obsessed with such things, the Achievement details can be found after the break. Oh, and according the post at 360sync, the devs will be Live and playing on the night of release.
Continue reading Marathon DLC (Jjaro Map Pack) hitting tomorrow

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Reminder: X3F LIVE tonight!

Filed under: Xbox Live, Fan stuff

Community, listen up. Tonight at 9:30 PM EST we're throwing down on some Bomberman Live and Team Fortress 2 in another edition of X3F Live. Browse through your ridiculously long list of XBLA titles, dust off those copies of The Orange Box and prepare yo'self for a few games of each when we play Bomberman Live from 9:30-10:30PM and then switch to Team Fortress 2 from 10:30-11:30PM!

As usual add X3FLIVE to your friends list and use the Friends of Friends feature to track down Richard (SenseiRam), Dustin (SuperDunners), Alexander (Sli Xander) and/or Xav (Snypz) and try to jump into an open session. We still need to set up a telethon to save Terrence's internets.

This week I (that's Xav, Gamertag: Snypz) will be hosting the games so, if you're online and haven't been invited to a game send me a message and we'll try to get you in throughout the night.

See ya online!

Permalink | Email this | Comments

Rumor: Forza 3 will have 2 discs, 400 cars, more

We know there is a certain section of the readership that hates our guts for posting rumors, but frankly, we really don't much care. We do our best to show exactly where rumors come from, and always leave it to you to make the decision about their truthfulness for yourselves. This next one came from the same survey page that the "Xbox Avatar" rumor came from, and has all sorts of goodies in it.

The page states that Forza 3 will ship on two discs, have some sort of "assist system", will be loaded to the brim with content (400 cars, 100 tracks, etc) and will have car deformation. Really though, the biggest news here is the possible hint (if the survey page is to be believed) that the game was constrained by the limitations of the DVD format ...

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Rumor: "Avatars" are Microsoft's take on Mii's?

Filed under: News, Xbox Live, Rumors

Well, well, well, what have we here? Looks like we're finally getting some real evidence that Microsoft really does have some sort of response to Nintendo's Miis on the way. It's been rumored for some time now and the above shot of the linked flash page seems to portend the end of the rumors. Giving the rumor more credibility is that the information contained in the image, supposedly taken from an online survey, conforms to details recently given to Joystiq by a trusted source. These "Xbox Avatars" certainly look to do everything that Miis do and more.

Taking into account that Microsoft doesn't seem too troubled by the rest of the year, this, along with the rumored "Newton" controller, could possibly be what they're betting the farm on.

Hmm ... E3 should sure be interesting this year ...

[Thanks Mighty Healthy]

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Community Content: 241 Edition

Filed under: Xbox Live, Fan stuff

Each week, X3F showcases the best in Halo 3 downloads with Community Content.
