They amazed us, obviously, because the level of work and detail that goes into these cars is amazing. They befuddled us because we had no idea how they were created. Lo and behold, we have discovered a handy how-to on the Forza 2 message boards. Posted by one Neubourn, the tutorial shows you step by step how the many shapes available in the Forza 2 livery editor can be transformed into incredibly detailed works of art. Yup, every custom paint job is merely a collection of shapes in different configurations and transparencies. It seems damned near unbelievable when you view the initial rough outline of Batman's Harley Quinn (see "Before" above), but after some extensive manipulation (and plenty of time we're sure) she came to life as clear as crystal. Hit the "read" link to learn how to make custom designs yourself.

[Thanks to murph for pointing this out]

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

TUAW: Xbox 360 and Mac can play nice

Our friends over at The Unofficial Apple Weblog posted quite the comprehensive guide for Mac lovers to get the most out of their 360s. True, it's not as easy to get the Xbox 360 to play nice with a Mac, but with the numerous programs and driver that have been released, you'll be able to get all the same PC streaming goodness in no time. TUAW talks about all kinds of subjects like sharing your internet connection through a Mac, using your controller, hooking up a Vision camera, and even streaming video/audio content through a Mac. And thanks to the Spring dash update, the H.264 format support will make Apple fans smile with glee. Like we said, the article is a pretty good read for Mac owners who may not know how to get the most out of their 360 or is just a great resource to find some good linkage. Xbox 360 and Apple ... love has no boundaries.

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

A360P posts map for Agility Orbs

Crackdown's hidden and agility orbs are an addictive little treasure hunt for gamers. We posted up a guide for finding the hidden orbs, and now we're bringing you a top down map showing off all the agility orbs, courtesy of Achieve360Points. Sure, while the dots on the map don't exactly tell you what height the orb is at, the top left corner has some vital info for orb hunters. It tells you how many orbs are on each gang's territory. 212 for Los Muertos , 155 for the Volk, 128 for Shai-Gen, and the remaining 5 can be found at The Keep.

Combine that information with IGN's guide, which only has 498 Orbs pictured, or completely photographed lists for both types, but plagued with duplicate pictures, and you have a shot at finding the last ones you're missing. So, how many orbs, agility or hidden, do you have yet to obtain?

[Thanks, DjDATZ]

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Xbox 360 and Airport Extreme Compatibility Fix

Better late than never, we have a workaround fix for the compatibility issues we reported earlier this month regarding the new Airport Extreme Base Station and Xbox 360. Go to your Airport Utility, then Option-Click the radio setting button to reveal a drop down menu, from there, select "b/g compatible", not "n (b/g compatible)". That takes away the benefits of an 802.11 n network, but it gets the job done with 54 Mbps.

Next up is to Option-Click the button for encryption setting and select "WPA Personal". In DHCP settings under Internet, using the 360's MAC address, reserve an IP so it stays consistent. Finally, in your NAT options, select the 360's IP address as the "Default Host" to prevent any Live functionality issues, and restart your Extreme Base Station. Once you go to the network settings on your System blade, you should see your WPA-encrypted network show up. So your 360 and Airport Extreme can work together with encryption, although you kind of neuter the Base Station in the process.

[Via CrunchGear]

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Video: Zune Remote works with 360

Filed under: News, How-tos, Peripherals, Videos

Video: Zune Wireless Remote Works with Xbox 360

Zune Insider has a video showing how the Zune's remote works with your Xbox 360, and we bet you couldn't guess that from the title. After a few simple steps and about 5-10 minutes of cycling through codes, they were able to power up the Xbox and even get some DVD playback functionality out of it. The cool thing about this is that it opens the door to the possibility of other universal remotes being programmed to work with the 360. For example, DirecTV isn't available in Canada, but Shaw Cable has a similar service with its own set top box and universal remote that can manage every component of your home theatre, and if it can be configured to control the Xbox 360, that would be very convenient indeed. Full instructions and brief video after the break.
Continue reading DirecTV remote can control your 360

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Trouble finding those COGs? And we still haven't succeeded. But, after beating the game in both hardcore and insane difficulties and coming out with only 28 COG tags, it still just sucks. So, after some quick Googling we've stumbled upon a few great resources for those of you who need some help locating those tags.

First, here are some written instructions that explain which act and chapter each COG tag is located and a short description. Second, above is a YouTube video showing each and every COG tag location in the game ... and comes in at a relatively low six minute watch. Hopefully these two information sources will help those of you who can't get those COG tag achievements, and if not .... well then you're screwed buddy.

Permalink | Email this | Comments

GOW glitch of the day: chainsaw yourself

Filed under: How-tos, Fan stuff, Gears of War

We love Gears of War glitches. Sure, there are plenty of people out there that love to just play Gears of War, but there is another group, a group that lives to glitch. We salute you. Last week, it was the break dancing glitch, and now we bring you the self-chainsaw glitch. Embedded after the break is a video of Locusts and COG soldiers eviscerating themselves and feeling no pain. It looks like all you need is the right set of drivers and a playback program and voila! Instant, cheap HD-DVD goodness. The boys who discovered this solution -- UNEASYsilence -- were not satisfied with such an easy outcome, so they took the damned thing apart anyway. Check out the article if you'd like to see the Toshiba-powered guts of the HD-DVD player. Also worth noting, a Mac recognized the drive immediately, no drivers needed. Unfortunately, as there is no HD-DVD program available for the Mac, it will only play DVDs.

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Early details on XNA B2 from CodeCamp Seattle

Filed under: How-tos, Xbox Live Arcade
If you're unable to attend the CodeCamp XNA sessions taking place today in Seattle, but still want to get early deets on XNA Beta 2, you can check out Andy Dunn's extensive notes from yesterday's presentation by Mitch Walker. The adapter allows players to use a Sega Saturn control on the 360. Considered by many to have the best d-pad and button layout ever, the Saturn controller is perfect for Street Fighter II or the upcoming Mortal Kombat. The adapter is still a prototype -- and ugly as sin -- but the functionality is promising. The unit is (technically) wireless, though I'd pay for the same thing with a USB adapter.

If you'd like to learn more about it -- or make one yourself -- check out the forums at Xbox-Scene.
A little more research reveals that Dell is discounting all kinds of 360 goodies: GRAW, COD2, wireless network adapters, wireless controls, even the Logitech Harmony remote.

Dell does kuh-razy deals like this all the time and they usually don't last forever so, act fast. If you grab a 360 -- let alone all this other stuff -- let us know how it went.

That beingsaid, if you're still reading and you still crap in the comments, I'll just point and laugh. Now, let'sbegin.

A tutorial at deviantART goes through thestep-by-step process of crafting an Xbox 360--not from shiny next-gen technology (chips, RAM, and what have you) butfrom the dark magic of Photoshop. I can't really think of many uses for this 'cept one: if you've been lusting after anXbox 360 and keep a folded up image of one in your wallet to stroke, lovingly, from time to time, now might be the timeto trade up. Render your own and duplicate that feeling of owner's pride we all place in our consoles (real orfabricated).

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments

Find the Oblivion unicorn

Filed under: Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, How-tos

Is there a gamer alive who doesn'tlove unicorns? Did I say gamer? I meant 11-year-old girl. Anyway, reader Andy has posted instructions on how to find the "hidden" unicorn in Elder ScrollsIV: Oblivion. See the map above for the exact location. According to Andy it will attack you if you stab it with asword.

Maybe the problem tapered out, or people justfigured out resourceful ways to cool their system. Here's another way to keep it chilled if you're still havingproblems or are just looking for a much better way to do it.

Enter the Antec Notebook cooler. This thing wasdesigned for computers, but wait: it flawlessly doubles as a base cooler for the Xbox 360 too. The pearly aestheticseven follow suit with the console. If you've been keeping an eye out for a ridiculously easy way to cool your 360,here's your solution. Not to mention it isn't terribly expensive for the use. You can pick this thing up for as littleas $27 at someplaces.

The writer mentions that she conducted a test by placing it in a cramped up space with andwithout the notebook cooler. Within 30 minutes, it came to a screeching halt. However, after adding the new peripheraland placing it back in the unventilated area, the Xbox 360 ran for three hours without so much as a hiccup. Try thisout and let us know how it works with your own setup!

Read | Permalink | Email this | Comments
