According to Gamestop and a leaked Circuit City flier, the rumored 60GB HDD Live starter pack is really real and will be releasing next week.
The 60GB HDD Live pack includes a 60GB hard drive, a 3 month subscription to Xbox Live, a wired headset and ethernet cable all for $99. Quite the steep price, but it works in terms of the console pricing between an Xbox 360 Arcade and Xbox 360 Pro. But we're not justifying the price and 100% agree that it's still way expensive.

not to beat a dead horse but I upgraded my PS3 hdd to 250 GB for $20.00 less. They need to reduce the cost of entry or let people use any external HDD.

Well the 20GB HDD is normally 13GB accessible so will the 60GB be 59.5GB or less? Either way its too overpriced with a bundle of crap everyone already has already. If it was 12+ card plus the HDD then I would of sprung for it.

My 120gb hd is 107gb accessible or so. So, I'm guessing it's about 47gb accessible or so for the 60gb.

You're close-the 60 gig has about 48 gig available when new.

Considering that the 20GB was that price for the HDD alone I'd consider it a deal.

I was waiting for this deal and then bought a 120 GB HDD on ebay for $100 with a transfer cable. My concern for current 20 GB owners is where is the transfer cable if they need it and are existing cables that can be had on ebay for $30 - $40 going to work. I have heard rumors that it only works with the 120 GB HD. Additionally I don't need the headset b/c I already have it nor do I need the cable and my live subscription is good for a year. On the other hand this is a somewhat good deal for Arcade owners looking for bigger drives but isn't MS going to start a program where you can buy a HDD for $20-$30 if you own the Arcade system?

That was my concern, as well. Considering the high price of the 120GB drive, this might have been a reasonable upgrade, but without the transfer cable it's useless.

Check out Ebay. I was sold once I found the 120 GB HDD with cable and installation disc used. Product works great. If you do this just make sure you bid on a transfer cable that comes with the disc. No disc = no transfer.

I need a new HDD so I may pick this one up, if I can transfer my stuff over.. The 20GB HDDs sell for about $30 on eBay so really you could get the 60GB for about $70ish.

No transfer cable? That makes no sense, how about if you want to upgrade from a 20GB, how are you going to transfer your stuff? So you buy the hard drive and then spend another couple of weeks waiting for a transfer cable from Microsoft. Seems stupid.

what about the headset?
by the way, I called 800 4 MY XBOX and they seemed to be amenable to sending me the transfer cable even though I was only going to buy the 60 gb.
