Holy Summer Xbox Live Arcade sales Major Nelson! Microsoft's five week long Summer of Arcade promotion - where games like Castle Crasher, Geometry Wars 2, Braid and Bionic Commando released - was a success. A hugely huge success!
According to the Microsoft PR folks, during that five week period, the Arcade saw a 58% increase in unique member purchases and during August, the monthly Arcade revenue record was shattered by 67%. We guess there's a correlation between an XBLA sales spike and the XBLA seeing the release of fun, interesting, original and unique games. We say, keep the Arcade goodies coming!

Couldn't agree more!
And what is up with Feeding Frenzy 2? I thought the first one was stupid kids game with no depth but I had to buy the second one after the demo kept calling to me.
Braid is awesome-its like playing a game of Twister with your Brain.

maybe now they will learn that good games=good sales numbers, rather than just releasing so much crap they have to delist stuff

Yeah, seemed that there was something for everyone. I'm really enjoying Castle Crashers and Geometry Wars 2. Hopefully they will keep up with the good games, and get away from the crap games.

I like how they think the increase in sales is all because of their marketing campaign... im sure it as nothing to do with the fact that they released 5 awesome games

Well Cole, if you'd actually read the linked article you'd have realized that in fact they think the increase came from a steady stream of good game releases.

glad it worked out well.
i think the contests they had and prizes also might have been incentive enough to play the arcade games.
i personally got Castle Crashers, Bionic Commando, and Fable 2 Pub games (free code)
and now Duke Nukem.

i bought Castle Crashers and Bionic Commando, and i'm going to buy Braid in a week or so when i get a new 4000 point card. it seems the great games are continuing. Duke Nukem 3D is unbelievable and Banjo-Kazooie will be awesome as well. I love the XBLA!

I got BC and GW2 ... two great games. I think MS needs a tougher screening system when approving games cause most are just crap!
