For the third consecutive week The Behemoth's latest release,
Castle Crashers, has remained the most played Xbox Live Arcade release. Still reeling from its online play hiccups,
Castle Crashers has been singled out as one of the most successful releases to ever hit the service. Released nearly two years since it was announced,
Castle Crashers was at the forefront of a
price listing controversy that pegged the beat-em-up as the first 1800MS point Arcade release but was then confirmed at a slightly lower price of
1400MS 1200MS points.
After stealing the top slot for the third time we wonder, are any upcoming releases tempting enough to take over? If you said
Feeding Frenzy 2 congratulations. You're so wrong.
Update: We need coffee, price of Castle Crashers is and always has been 1200MS points.

I am pretty sure I only paid 1200 MS pts for my copy of CC so looks like I got a better deal than I thought.

This game is WIN. I'm one achievement away from getting the full 200/200. And THAT should come soon. :D

I tried the demo and it's exactly like any other side scrolling fighter. There's stuff like it for free on the internet. I don't get the appeal.

Now imagine how successful it might have been if it wasn't completely borked....

if anything, i felt undercharged for this title. Castle Crashers has soooooooo much content in it and soooo much to do. my $15 was very well spent. i love collecting all the weapons and am looking foward to the DLC coming soon!

Ugh, this argument is getting so old. Did the world of 800 or 400 point games go away after CC or Braid? No, didn't think so. XBLA games are getting bigger and better, therefore some of them should be able to charge more. Secondly, CC was an amazing game that would have justified $20 or more in my opinion, at $15, it just feels like a steal. Great game, great price. To ignore it or look down on it on the basis of trying to "teach Microsoft a lesson" is foolish.

And to clarify, that isn't all directed at Gemini Ace but rather towards all the people making the "Bad game/won't buy due to price" argument

I just finished waiting 8 days for the coffin to arrive, and sent it off two days ago... I feel for you. they need to speed up the process. My Wii went belly up and I had a new one in a week and a half.

Never justify people charging you more for something that has always been 33% cheaper. That's like justifying paying for Xbox Live if they told you they were going to make it free.

You act like CC is the first 1200 point game. Bankshot Billiards 2 was 1200, so was Lumines Live, so was Roboblitz, so was Puzzle Quest.
Not only that, but CC and Braid are at least as good (better in my opinion) than the previous 1200 point games.
Games have been releasing at 800 points lately, still seems like that's the standard. I don't see as many straight retro-game ports coming onto the service that everyone complained about. Game quality in general seems to be ever increasing. A quick average of Metacritic scores by month proves that theory.
Am I the only one that doesn't see a problem with what is happening on XBLA in regards to game quality and pricing? A lot of the naysayers first complained of all the XBLA titles being crap, but now when amazing titles are released at a piddly $5 premium, suddenly that's no good either. I suppose they want the best games but at the cheapest price, well that isn't how the world works. And I bet some of you complain about XBLA while throwing down $60 on crap like Force Unleashed. You could have bought CC, Braid, Puzzle Quest, Small Arms, Marble Blast Ultra, and Geo Wars 2; for that same price.

I do love CC but I also hope that a new release equally the same or more satisfying will come up at XBLA.

Despite cheap hits here and there that "annoy the eff'outta me", it comes as no surprise that this game is doing so well. The ability to play on/offline with 4player multiplayer is what honestly sold me in addition to its already mentioned positives.
