Here's a juicy Halo rumor for you. Word on the collective streets is that former Kojima Productions employee and Metal Gears Solid 4 co-producer Ryan Payton is currently working on the mysterious Peter Jackson Halo Project.Supposedly, Payton has been given a "creative director" title on the "Halo: Chronicles" project which is a title that's way too vague for us to speculate his specific role. That is, if this rumor isn't made entirely out of lies. Our Joystiq mother ship has contacted Ryan Payton for comment, so let's wait and see what kind of answers we get.

Looking at the massive amount of curscenes in MGS4, I wouldn't be surprised if he was part of this project which is being specialted to be like an interactive movie...

Actually, Ryan's job was to make the game more Western, including getting them interested in Gears of War, making the controls better, etc.
So Ryan wasn't behind the 45 minute cutscenes.

Here's a quote from the article: "Payton, assistant producer on Metal Gear Solid 4, has been credited with spearheading a more Western approach to controls for Metal Gear Solid 4, making the game far more approachable and much tighter than the previous installment. He also helped warm the MGS4 team up to more Western developed games like Gears of War as well."

Sweet, It seemed like Chronicles was setup to be mostly cutscenes anyway.
Maybe they will show S117 for about 10 minutes and than proceed to Mind fux everyone with effeminate ancillary characters no one truly cares about...and be naked for a portion of it.

I'd prefer a Deus Ex style storytelling over Metal Gear storytelling in a Halo game....that which attempts to cleanly integrate a story in the gameplay.

Speaking as someone who has played MGS4, this is terrible news. Payton is easily the worst thing to happen to metal gear. I hope to god this is a rumour because I'd rather not have him ruin another of my favourite franchises.
