We expect Bungie to do the big Assembly map unveiling sometime later on Friday when PAX starts. We'll post photos, our Assembly gameplay impressions and hopefully corner Bungie for some interview fun. It'll be good times, guaranteed!

I don't know about anyone else.. but I'm kind of over Halo 3 maps, especially when you have to buy them for 10$ and they come out every 4 months.
I'd much rather have that map editor teased in the GOY acceptance video.

New maps actually cost 7.50 but I do hope that they come out with a map editor. When you think about it though the maps are actually pretty cheap. 3 maps is less than a large popcorn and drink at the movies. Furthermore that stuff won't last as long as the maps will. Finally I'd like to point out that items that normally cost 7.50 usaully didn't take long to make while new maps require 100+ man hours.

Blake, nice try, but we've all spent $10 before and don't need a think-of-it-as-cheaper-than sales pitch.
The next map pack will be the 3rd chance to spend $10 on Halo 3 maps, which is $30 for those (like me) who started with Heroic map pack. If you play Halo 3 occasionally, $10 can be too much, especially with lots of other things to spend $10 on, like Moving Pictures DLC and Geometry Wars 2, to name just two.

$7.50? its 800 ms points. Thats $12.50 here in canada. 12.50x x3 + tax = $40+. $40+ for 9 new maps is quite alot of money. 100s of man hours? who cares? They could of used those hundreds of man hours designing a map editor instead, and we would have 1000+ maps for FREE, not 9 maps for $9.
Look at farcry, and upcoming farcry 2. They got a kick ass editor, and while yes, 95% of maps will be garbage, they also have a rating system, so people can find, play, and download the professionaly built maps for FREE. Because people like me enjoy spending 100s of hours designing maps and letting others play on them for free.
Theres just no reason to charge for extra mpas ever, in ANY game. I wish more developers would take the farcry route and inclue map makers in their games.

$10 wouldn't be so bad, if everyone purchased them... I loved the Heroic and Legendary packs, they were some of the best in the game (Foundry should have been free though). But since no one had them, it was pretty much $10 down the hole.
Would be nice if they incorporated a way to only play with people who had them, like COD 4 does with the veteran map pack. At least they will be good fun in Forge / Custom games with friends, even if I have to wait six months for them to half-ass them into matchmaking playlists I'll still get this one.

Yeah I find it funny that it's "in no way affiliated with Midship" yet in last weeks Bungie Update they specifically stated (in addition to the above:) It's medium size, about the same size as Midship. It's symmetrical, it's purple, it's covenant themed.....
We'll see, I just hope that there's a true moshpit in this one too (their levels with a defined pit are more fun hill games in my opinion.)

I think its time for BUNGIE to give us somehting not HALO related. Its starting to get so old its gettting wrinkles. Im starting to think BUNGIE cant produce anything but halo material. Its really a shame because the halo series is great & it would be nice to see what else they could make that could take on a life of its own like hako did.

I don't think Halo is getting old, but then again I don't play anything BUT Halo, I'd rather spend $10 on a new map pack than f'n arcade game, but then again I am 23...not 12.

hmm... I am 28, and I own almost 90 XBLA games. But then again, I look at the fun for the value, not what section its in, nor the stereotype I can make up to justify and fit my preferences.
Anyways, I will be buying it, same as the rest, and anything else that appears on Marketplace that is fun, and worth the money :)

Didn't Bungie want to get away from Halo?? Move on to your next project already. This game has more than proved itself.

I'm hoping this one is free like cold storage.
I don't know what people are saying about waiting 3 to 5 minutes to get into a halo 3 match,it takes me like 1 or 2 minutes and I'm on 1mb broadband so that's not much compared to the speeds in the US.
