Talking with develop magazine, Too Human lead Denis Dyack expressed his continued anger towards Epic Games for putting him, Silicon Knights and Too Human through a development hell. Four years of development hell thanks to the Unreal Engine."They [Epic Games] have defrauded us, and a major portion of the industry" Dyack explained, saying that Too Human "would have been out even quicker, but we had to re-write the engine because of all the Epic stuff." Very mud slinging-like. So, you ask, how is all that legal Epic stuff going? According to Dyack, quite peachy, saying that he feels "really good" about their legal claims. Congrats for that!

I've heard mixed reviews on the game from a couple people I know, so I guess I'll have to play the demo sometime.
Do you think the game "blows" based on what Epic has done to them or would the game have sucked either way?

The third time through the demo, using different classes and getting involved with the story, has changed my initial perception that the game blows to, "Hey, this game could be an epic CO-OP game".
Thanks for the ONE WORD review people, it was EXTREMELY HELPFUL.
The comment OP blows.

It's 99 nights meets Mass Effect meets...um...Dynasty Warriors. With coop play, crazy upgrades and badass graphics (as in AMAZING graphics, especially in some of the bosses.)
Also, my favorite games are Halo, Blitz and Wik: Fable of Souls, none of which are ANYTHING like this game. That says a lot for it.

PC engine ≠ Xbox 360 engine, doofus. They missed their own promised release window by 6 months pushing back Too Human, which Silicon Knights had already paid license fees on in advance. Afterward, Epic tacked on additional fees and provided no implementation on it.
It was the dev equivalent of a shovelware dump and if you gays had gotten software like that, you would bitch non-stop.

Still dont understand why people hate this game so much.
If you dont like it whatever, but to hate it in such away as to bash it whenever the opportunity presents itself.
Its not like you paid for this game and then found out it sucked, there is like a 45 minute demo, feel free to express your opinion on the demo but dont Hate the game for no apparent reason.

I think, whether it's fair or not, more people dislike Denis Dyack than Too Human... and, unfortunately, that gets projected on the game.
The odd thing about it is that the things that are "bad" about this game were also true of Eternal Darkness... but there is a large group of people who are quick to defend that. Short game length, odd animation, weird character faces, some great looking areas complemented with some awful ones, super repetitive enemies, odd and overhyped combat system, etc.
So I imagine there will be a large group of people that Too Human also appeals to as well. I'm sure those people will find plenty to like here. Personally, I'm just planning on renting this game (I was initially planning on buying it, but the demo changed my mind).
I guess my point is the same as yours lol. I don't understand some of it either, but I think as time goes on I think it'll wind up balancing out like it did with ED. Some like it, some don't and that's kind of the end of that one.

Ok Dirty, the demo blows and if the game is anything like the demo it will blow. In my opinion and apparently in a lot of other gamers opinions this game blows.

Methinks Dyack is trying to secure whatever revenue streams he can to recoup some of what was sunk into a game that is clearly not going to be a hit.
When all else fails: call the lawyers.
Though I would have though the most they could hope for is what they spent in licensing the engine. am pretty sure part of the licensing agreement for the engine is a ton of text about "thou shalt not sue, and you shalt use this engine at your own risk".
But agreement or not, there's always lawyers willing to take money and rush up that hill, so have it.

They had 10 years to work on this game.. and you know what.. based on the demo.. it looks like it was an xbox game. How many games that arent' made by epic use the unreal engine without a problem? Is Square-Enix releasing an ROLEPLAYING GAME using the unreal engine?
I don't think the problem is Epic or the Unreal Engine, I think the problem is Dyack and his lack of focus on the game. He seems more interested in blaming Epic then he does in explaining why the cutscenes of his game have jagged edges.. where's the anti-aliasing? Is that epic's fault too?

I compltely agree. I was so excited for this game when I heard about it - Co op play? Yes, please!
But the demo made me question that and then some. The camera angles felt unintuitive, the graphics blew me away, but the WRONG direction. The cut scenes LOOK like they were from Eternal Darkness. After seeing what Gears (a 3 year old game) and Mass Effect have done with scope, story and graphics, this game needs to have a hell of a lot going for its gameplay mechanics, graphics and story.
I might have gotten past the iffy cutscene graphics if the gameplay and camera were more polished - but it just felt... "off"
Maybe I'll give it a rent, but I sure won't go out and run to buy it.
