There's an interesting interview over on IGN where the Harmonix crew sits down to chit-chat about the Rock Band 2 song selection process as well as the tactics and strategies that are involved. All of which tells us a lot about them and Rock Band. One being that Harmonix takes the Rock Band track selection process seriously. Two being that they're busy bees when it comes to securing and licensing band music. Third being that we can all but expect to see more The Who downloadable content in the near future. And that, friends, is what Martha Stewart would call a very, very good thing. Like we said, it's a good read, so make the jump and begin the traditional reading process.[Thanks, Dark Caboose]

I noticed this:
"IGN: Are the 20 free DLC tracks Harmonix plans going to feature any of the artists included in the RB2 disc or are these completely different artists?"
I had never actually heard about this before. Does anyone have more info on it?

There are going to be 20 free DLC songs available at realease, and that's pretty much all anyone knows.

RB2 was supposed to come with 100 tracks, but they only had time to put 80 on the disc. So the remaining 20 will be a free update.

Well,we got that metal pack with Megadeth,so I guess it'll be another 70 packs of classic and 90's rock before we get anymore metal.
I mean, they gave us Screaming For Vengeance,so clearly we need 100 more songs from Rush and The Who to balance that out.
More Disturbed, more Iron Maiden, more Megadeth,Pantera, etc. I'm so sick of the 90's and classic rock they pump out week after week for months now.

Oh no, you don't have enough metal music yet. Boo-hoo.
Notice that you can choose a goth attitude and a goth clothing style, but there's not a single track of goth music in the game?
I'm not feeling sorry for you.

lol @ Disney Quest.
Our school planned DQ Chicago for our eighth grade trip and everyone was really adamant about not participating. Closed down three months later, :P
I'd like to think that was our doing.

Metric Pack, please. Hustle Rose, Empty, and Dead Disco.
We need some fun songs with female vocalists, CrushCrushCrush can only carry us so far before we are forced to dredge into poor The Sounds covers and... Brass in Pocket. Also, more The Sounds please!

Metric would be amazing. However, I think Metric is a little to under the radar for them to put time into it.
I have to admit I'm getting tired of all this 80's rock. Very very tired.

More Who? Meh. They should focus more on metal and punk (excluding pop-punk) for DLC.

Great the Harmonix has new content coming out, but what I got out of it was that they would never come out and say, "no, we're not going to get that" but came down to "Group XXX? We're working on that." I'm sure they could have said have asked, "Hey, how about Avril Lavigne or Mylie Cyrus?" and Harmonix wouldn't have flat out said, "No."
