In their just released first quarter fiscal report, Ubisoft made mention that Splinter Cell: Conviction is still alive (phew!) and that it has been delayed once again (aww, shucks) possibly into 2010 (wah?). According to Ubi, they've pushed back its release to "bolster the line-up for fiscal 2009-10", meaning that the earliest we'll see Sam Fisher and hear his new voice will be April 2009. We've made the executive decision to place Conviction alongside Alan Wake in the 360's exclusive vaporware catalog.

Putting this game in the vaporware column is certainly the right call. Besides I'm not sure if I want to play a Splinter Cell game sans Ironside. I'm picky like that...

This is my thought as well, to an extent. I wonder if the real goal here is two-fold: put enough distance between SC releases to make the Ironside absence less impactful & get ahead of the technology curve.

I didnt like the game anyways, I liked the second one the most, theme wise and challenge wise. Now its just delayed so much its basically a new game in terms of development cycle.
Why make a Jason Bourne game and slap Splinter Cell on the front, seems all the delay is people in power feel the same way.

I'm pretty sure Splinter Cell games were around first.

I think sloo's point is that Conviction just looks like a wannabe Jason Bourne, and perhaps the delays are focused on fixing that.
We can only hope.

Yeah, chaos theory was fantastic, but i was underwhelmed by double agent. it was way too much "Do this to keep trust with this organization" and not enough "Sneak around and kill people". Just me?

I agree. If they want to kill this game, they're doing a good job.
I've gone from super excited about this game to super don't give a crap.

Thank God it has been delayed. I hope the rumors were true and they restarted from the drawing boards.
No more of this Splinter Creed Bourne s***. I want a real Splinter Cell.

I only care about the multi-player... I never did care for the single player campaign

i lost interest in this game last year, when i gave up playing SC: Double Agent. Somehow it didn't feel like the xbox originals. i think both SC: Convinction and Alan Wake will be too little too late when they are released. there will be plenty of other games that go far beyond what was planned for those games.

I just want the original cat and mouse online version of the game back. I want a challenge. I want video camera, lasers; I want mines and spy traps; sticky cams and spy bullets. Motion tracking and EM tracking; Heat vision and night vision.
I want the challenge back. Newcomers can and will learn just like everybody else. Don't dumb down how original and the stealth mode of the game to make it easier for others, train them in playing right with better training programs.

I gave up playing SC in the middle of Double Agent. The game was alright but it was nothing like the original Xbox games. Now i just don't give a crap about SC. I wish they'd just kill the project so that Sam Fisher can go out with some dignity.

I was a huge fan of SC (what do you think my name is from, it's not Master Splinter, lol), but since the first game, it's slowly gotten less stealthy and more action based. I prefer the original because of this.
However, I hope that this game will be a nice release next year.
