If it were to happen a simultaneous release for Rock Band 2 would be a stark contrast to the original schedule that saw the first title take nearly 8 months to reach UK shores.
Announced earlier today, Rock Band 2 promises to offer a wealth of gameplay enhancements, as well as the ability to play all previously purchased downloadable content from the popular original. Interestingly enough, the first Rock Band is still scheduled to release in the UK this August for the PS3, PS2 and Wii -- an Xbox 360 version was released on May 23.

I like helping out.
This is pretty good news. Although many UK ppl may be a bit pissed that a new one is on its way a mere 3 - 4 months after the first one. i'm not though, i can't wait. I just hope it costs less this time around.

And will the sky be green when you go out tomorrow? No of course not, Rock Band is a big cash cow that won't reduce in price, it'll get more expensive, look at Guitar Hero.

@Sythe
I know, but it's okay to hope.
And by cheaper i just mean a RRP of £140, like play.com and a few other retailers have changed to since the original games release.
(Although, even cheaper wouldn't be a miss)

It would be nice since the cost has delayed my purchase until it's hovering around the £100 mark, maybe GH World Tour will be cheaper but I really doubt it.

although guitar hero world tour looks lioke it could be a little bit more complicated than RB but alot easier than konami rock revolution.

i know that comment made no sense to Sythes comment before it but i just think it might be worth the extra money for the simplicity

I just feel sorry for our Aussie gaming brothers who still don't have RB1 and probably won't get RB1 until December of 2008.

Or some other countries. Like where I live, in Norway, RB1 isn't out yet either. And might even take a while, haven't heard a release date yet.

Does that mean Rock Band 2 will be out for the 360 in the UK before they've even released the original Rock Band for PS3? Because that would be hilarous.

Damn.
I just bought Rock Band 1 almost 2 months ago, although only paid $140 for the full 360 pack (yay sales)
Oh well, I'll be buying the full package again to get the "updated instruments"

Think I'll continue to wait for GH4. I'm still hurting from the delay and massive price increase of RB so I'll stick to my guns and pass on this one. The create-a-track mode in GH4 looks really promising anyway.
Only a cheap price and online co-op career/world tour mode would make me think again about RB2.

Well according to Eurogamer:
EA has told Eurogamer there has been a "misunderstanding" about the Rock Band 2 date in Europe.
Word had originally pointed to a simultaneous European release alongside the US this September.
