We're going to preface this lil' bloggy blog by telling you there's a heavy bias from us regarding this week's Rock Band downloadable content. Though, our bias is for good reason, because this week's Weezer DLC is amazing ... no, spectacular ... wait, life-changing. Yeah, it's that good.
Available for purchase off the XBLM right this moment is super fresh Pixies and Weezer Rock Band DLC. The Pixies' Doolittle album and all fourteen of its tracks can be purchased individually for 160 Microsoft points or as an entire album for 1520 MS points. The other piece of today's new DLC offering is music from Weezer's latest Red Album and we're confident in giving it our official X3F must buy seal of approval. Seriously kids, we're aware there are a bunch of old-school Weezer fans who are against Weezer's new "style", but at least give it an unbiased listen. Just try to tell us the song "Troublemaker" (embedded above) doesn't make you wanna dance on your chair and rip your shirt off in a musical excitement flurry. Ahem, enough Weezer talk (though, can you really ever have enough Weezer talk?) click towards the break for an easy to read breakdown of all of today's new Rock Band DLC. Buy all the Weezer tracks.

Loved the Weezer tracks this morning. Didn't have time for "Troublemaker" or any of "Doolittle."

I downloaded Monkey Gone to Heaven, it is checked on the dashboard, but in the game There Goes My Gun is playable. So I am confused.

Love the Doolittle album but the dlc tracks are waaaay boring to actually play for every instrument .... except vocals. If you're planning on singing the Pixies dlc, be prepared for some major frustration.

Why are we even talking about the new Weezer tracks when one of the best rock albums of all time is available also? Skip the gawd awful new Weezer sound and go straight to the Pixies masterpiece!!!

Dustin, I concur. The Weezer songs were the first I started off on vocals (instead of drums) probably since February.

It's disturbing you are focusing on mediocre Weezer offerings when there is a f'ing fantastic album up for download.

Doolittle is an album that came out in the 80s and is still relevant and influential.
The Red Album came out a couple of weeks ago and people are on a high because the songs are actually enjoyable.
I think it's pretty safe to say most people are going to forget about the latter when the next fun pop rock album comes out lol.

That last bit was for Kizzle. Because Kizzle is right. Pixies > Weezer.

Weezer FTW!! This will keep me busy while they work on Weezer Track Pack 2 - Old School! Hash Pipe, Undone, Jonas, Fall Together, Island in the Sun, etc, etc...
and to the Pixies fans..i am not a young un'. i grew up around the same time as the Pixies were on the scene. but i just never got into them. I DL'ed Doolittle on Amazon last week and listened to it...but nothing really caught my ear as an awesome Rock Band classic. what am i missing here? which tracks should i check out?

Seriously, if you buy Weezer then you're part of the problem. And the terrorist win. And an angel dies. And so does a kitten. Seriously.

I don't think any of the important bands from the last twenty years have namechecked Weezer as a major influence.
Whatever your opinion of them, Nirvana and Radiohead have more critical and commercial cachet than anyone whose favourite album was Pinkerton.

I'm definitely picking up that "Troublemaker" track. I had to listen to that about 4 times in a row, very catchy. Only about 2-3 of the Pixies songs sound fun enough to play. A la carte DLC for the win!
