Now that
GTA IV has been out for enough time to have gamers get a good handle on its workings, one would think that it'd be the time to release good news about the
$50 million worth of content that was supposed to lure gamers to the 360 version. Instead, the exclusive DLC episodes will hitting in the first quarter of fiscal year 2009 (which actually begins in 2008). Specifically, the new release window for the DLC is November 1st 2008 to January 31st 2009, and funnily enough that's about all the specifics there is on it. See, this is where there should've been an announcement of good news! And with this fall being as full as any other in the industry just how popular will a
GTA IV DLC purchase be then?

That's lame. Firstly because interest has dropped for the game anyway, it's already down to number three in the XBL chart. Secondly, there's loads of games coming out around that time (i.e GoW2 to name one),so who will want to revisit Liberty City then? And thirdly has anyone seen Saints Row 2? Looks like they're making it everything GTAIV isn't. So Rockstar better have something very special to deliver come November ...

All games except Halo and CoD tend to die after a month or two. It's a shame though because GTA was a good game.

So I'm guess these (currently) 63 pages of posts are all about nothing?

Before you make a comment, which is barely in English, where you try to come across as funny (and failing miserably by the way), at least make sure you have a vague understanding of what the original comment was about...

i hope so,
they really need to fix the online mode, everytime i go online with my friends we get split up and sent to either different maps or back to the single player game.

As long as the DLC is substantial then I think it'll do well.
But if it's nothing more than some new clothes and a new gamerpic then they can shove it right up their arses.
I don't think I need to worry though. They'll deliver.

An extra month or two to wait, that's fine as long as they make it worth waiting for. If it's just a few more samey missions in the existing city, I don't think I can be bothered with that - let's have a new island, or some more varied missions. For instance, remember the mission in Vice City where you had to steal the tank from the army convoy? Or the RC missions in San Andreas (sure they were hella annoying, but at least it was different)?
You've got to believe that they'll try to get this out by December, to give it a Christmas sales boost.

Yes, I have full confidence in the fact that Rockstar will deliver the goods in a big way when it does.
Until then, hell..they could postpone the GTA IV DLC stuff until January for all I care. Let's NOT rush the content out the door before the deluge of games hit the shelves.
Instead, let's give GTA IV it's own glory day to do it's thing away from the spotlight of other titles well after the Holidays. We can assume the DLC at MOST could be $30 (most likely $20...totally NOT going to be free), and that's a substantial less cost than a retail disc of any full game. Gamers will have waited with bated breath all season for the DLC and will gladly shell out some bucks from Grandma.
I mean, if you were such a crazy big game company with such a crazy big game, wouldn't you want to isolate yourself from KNOWN games like..
Alone In The Dark
Unreal Tournament III
Madden 2009
Left 4 Dead
Silent Hill: Homecoming
Star Wars: Force Unleashed
Dead Space
Fable 2
Ghostbusters
Fallout III
Resident Evil 5
Gears of War 2
Lord Of The Rings: Conquest
....and that's just the small list of games I personally have on my radar. Add on the full list (with other system) AND unknown titles we'll hear about at E3 and yes, Rockstar..wait. Just release the month it'll happen to the press, and word of mouth will continue to snowball a bigger mythos about what could be coming and doubly insure you some insane duckets.
Let's make January Rockstar month!
(It's only 7 months from now.)

I think what is most likely to happen, is that they put stickers with the words "EXCLUSIVE CONTENT, ONLY ON XBOX 360!" onto the games box. Inside will be a code so that you can download the DLC. Normally games go down in price after awhile anyway, so the added DLC would be a good excuse to keep the price at 60 dollars for an extended period.
I think this DLC will do well, though I think the market for DLC is probably pretty slim right now when compared to the market for the actual game. They shouldn't have any problem making back their 50 million though.

Any word on the price of this stuff? Just wondering how much everyone (except me) will be gouged for content that Rockstar already got paid 50 Mil to produce.

I can only imagine it will be bad. The Shivering Isles expansion for Oblivion was $30. No reason why this wouldn't be as much, or more.
