Fracture: New trailer, like love, can move mountains
Lucasarts debuted the latest trailer for the upcoming action-shooter, Fracture, on GameTrailers early Saturday morning. Setting the stage for a war that takes place between a split United States, two factions face-off for dominance over the nation. The evil-doers, known as the Pacificans, have altered DNA to create a stronger, more dominant race while the Atlantic Alliance have put their effort into creating advanced cybernetics to thwart a Pacific attack. With an interesting concept and unique gameplay (terraform weapons look awesome!) can Fracture make a name for itself when it hits this October? Time will tell. Also, Pacificans? Really?

A lot of games today reveal everything in their previews. It could be that in this game you end up with a choice down the road as to which country you wish to fight for. Think about it: America splits in two would mean two nations wishing to be America right? At least in multiplayer you will be able to play Pacificans I bet.

I agree Xiphias it would be great if the game allowed us to play a few levels from the perspective of the Pacificans, would definitely give the player some type of moral dilemma. Overall the game has a very interesting concept, the physics engine looks fantastic. My only quip, and a minor one at that, is that the main character is like an Abercrombie version of Marcus Fenix. He seems too soft for such a badass role. But it was only a trailer and only time will tell if he steps up to the challenge. I will be keeping my eye on this one.

I want to assume this game is terrible just based on the premise, but at least they are innovating with gameplay, even if they aren't with story.

Is it just me who reckons developers make games like this to avoid having to make realistic looking games?

No, some people enjoy Science Fiction.

Yeah but whatever happened to GOOD science fiction? This looks like one of the most derivative games ever made, but with a dirt gun.

Oh for sure, I meant that as a general statement about realism vs sci-fi.
I do agree though, this particular game looks generic as hell.

Looks pretty lame- both plot and gameplay aren't all that interesting looking.

Pacifican, really, are they serious? The voice acting is lame as well. I think I'll pass.

Looks cool to me compared to a lot junk out there. But Gamestop list it coming out in October, competing with - Halo Wars - Fable 2 - Fallout 3 - Aliens: Colonial Marines - Tom Clancy's End War - Saints Row 2 - and Dead Space. Lucas Arts should release Fracture at another Date if they don't want their asses handed to them.

starcraft 2 is coming out just a little after that too, i think. i plan on picking up fracture, fallout 3, and starcraft 2 later on this year but it'll be hard for me to decide what to play

There's a reason most publishers don't live and die by the Gamestop release schedule: It's almost always incorrect. Unless the publisher has announced the official release date, Gamestop dates almost always change. Of the games you mentioned, my money is on Dead Space making October. The odds are good for Fallout 3, but Bethesda is notorious for delays.
Saint's Row as already delayed once. And the rest? Except for Fable 2, my money would be on 2009. But it's irrelevant, the makers or crap videogames always blame the release of superior titles on their own failure. Fracture will be no different. You could drop this game in March and it wouldn't sell.

uh, is it just me, or did anyone else feel like the preview was... less than satisfactory? I liked the premise to the story, but when I actually watched the preview... well, it was honestly kinda boring. Oh well, I know The Force Unleashed will be cool, so no worries.

Yeah I sent this one in early sunday morning when they posted it and the day before when gamespot had a bunch of new gameplay videos as well. I'm really interested in this game myself, always looking forward to new gameplay elements.

Reminds me of Psi Ops and Brute Force.
Graphics and locations look bland, rocky, and like you're stuck in a canyon the whole time like in Brute Force.
Storyline and physics seem a bit like Psi Ops.
The game could be okay, but I thought it looked way better back when they first announced it.
