We're certainly not condoning the crime -- we hope the thief is caught and the 360 returned -- but we have to admit that is one helluva burn.

They should check to see if there's a gamertag stored on the original Xbox, maybe they can trace it back to the the thief.

Maybe the xbox was registered via xbox.com, which would also help tie it back to somebody...

Me and my Xbox had some good times together. Hell, I still get regular use out of my old black box via XBMC.

I dunno how much of a burn this is... I mean, my original xbox still works, yet I've been through 3 360 repairs.

I like many still love my xbox orig...it's been through hell and back and never let me down (neither has my 360)...
in the end it ranks much higher than the wii, and probably the ps3 (when I get it (when it goes bargin bin)).... but you probably wouldn't need a gamer tag the saves themselves tell alot about a person...I.E. names in games (morrowind)

Either this guy's trying to get one over on the police, or somebody felt guilty about knowing they'll never be considered a suspect for opening the closet.
Whoever is involved apparently has delusions of grandeur about getting caught, considering how blatantly isolated the incident is.
It's also obvious that whoever did it, wants people to think it was some random thief, or someone who cleans the building.
To sum my comment of speculation up, I think it was the supposed victim with the 360 in the basement.

LMFAO. My hats off to the thief for a sick joke. But remember, kids. Stealing is bad!

Look on the bright side, there is no RRoD with this one.
Wait, there is no bright side when comes to stealing.

Eh, it could have been worse. The crook could have replaced the 360 with a PS3.
