After being announced at GDC 08 the only questioned that lingered about Microsoft's new Community Games initiative was when the program would officially begin. Today Microsoft inched the program closer to launch by announcing the Beta test for Community Games is available to premium XNA membership owners and the new XNA Creators Club Online community site.
The beta allows creators to submit games for review to the newly formed creators site and once reviewed and approved the game is made available on Xbox Live.
According to Microsoft during GDC, Community Games will land on all Xbox Live connected consoles this holiday season and hopefully the early beta means we can have a healthy catalog of titles to choose from.
Make sure to check out the XNA Community Games tutorial video after the jump.

Somebody forgot to mention that you have to buy an expensive account not only to make games but to download them too.

Explain how it would work if absolutely everyone could download and rate games? the process would not work people would simply create free ids and approve their own games..
In all honesty people who rate and provide feedback on the games should have some level of commitment to the process.

Perhaps, but not many people want to pay +$60 a year for a "decent-at-most games".

So make it a Gold perk. Many (most?) 360 owners will go Gold anyway to play games online; why not let us at least *run* XNA titles as well? Expand the audience for the games, and maybe you'll increase overall interest in the program. I keep thinking about getting a membership, but I know nobody will wind up playing a game even if I make one, so I think "What's the point?".

Guys, be patient...this isn't ment for you to see...this is the site for the developers...our games will be showing up on Xbox LIVE come this fall for you to download.
Come fall, you will not need a Creator's Club Subscription to download XNA games on Xbox!
And of course you don't need one for PC (Except for Windows LIVE play for the time being...but that changes in september as well)...
Not to mention, Zune support for the masses comes in september as well...
So yes, while currently its only ment for developers, and $60/year sucks for uncomplete games...just wait a little longer, and you're Xbox library will more than triple with the number of Indie Titles the independent studios have planned (we currently have 2 at my studio)
