We've officially lost count of how many times Microsoft has denied rumors of an upcoming Xbox 360 equipped with Blu-ray ... we only have so many fingers and toes. And so comes another denial hot on the heels of the recent Blu-ray rumor, where Microsoft told GamePro that they "have no plans to introduce a Blu-ray drive for Xbox 360". There you have it, said as black and white as humanly possible. But don't worry fanboys, we'll still report on every Blu-ray / Xbox 360 rumor we come across, not only because we feel obligated to keep you informed, but because we also enjoy annoying the pants off Microsoft. Yes, we're evil ...

what's the point of denying these rumors if they are true? I don't get the benifit behind it? Get ppl to buy xbox now and not wait for a new one?

Yes, that is exactly why. Last year the Elite was rumored and got to the point where we all knew it was coming, but it wasn't until exactly 1 month before it was released that MS finally came clean and made it "official."

i think it'd be a horrible move if they came out with an attachment drive... They either need to come out with a blu-360 or dont even bother making one... i think xbox is doing REALLY well without the demand for a blu-ray player...
seriously though, blu-ray has only been raking in 6% of the DVD market... check the nielsen ratings, its not doing that great...

To kevin from ps3. Actually the 360 doesn't use hd-dvd for its games. They use dual-layer dvds.

Also, Kevin from ps3, HD-DVDs aren't dead per say they just aren't being manufactured anymore. None of this matters anyway discs are a shitty idea and will be phased out.

"(we) have no plans to introduce a Blu-ray drive for Xbox 360"
Which only makes me more suspicious that they're actually working very actively on the 360's predecessor.

I just don't understand this rumor or non-rumor...whatever it will be. Blu-ray isn't that great. I've got better pictures from the downloaded shows on Xbox Live. Aside from a few frame hiccups that is.
I just purchased AVP-R on Blu (I'm a sucker for ALIENS), and I am very disappointed. I should have just bought the DVD at half the price, but there's always that lingering feeling of "don't buy old, buy new!" 1080p on a 46" Sony LCD with Sony Surround FULL HD (*eyeroll* not my rig)....the experience just doesn't seem worth all this hub-bub about Blu-ray. Unless you sit real close, the difference isn't noticeable.
Videophiles I understand, but when it comes down to the wire, it just feels like a waste of money. I start to wonder if the drivers to these ideas even own blu-ray players. If you want Blu-ray, just buy a PS3.
