It is/was down from 09:00 GMT, according to the message I had from Live (for any Brits reading).

You can't even stream video from you're PC or play it from a storage device when Live is down. Why do you have to be signed into Live just to do that? Shouldn't whatever media update that is required already be stored on my hard drive? I'm sorry, but Live should never be down for this long if MS wants it as such an all-encompassing service.
