In our continuing effort to bring you fresh and interesting content, X3F presents Would You Rather ... a weekly feature that asks you the hard questions. The point? If you had to choose one or the other, which would you go for?
In lieu of the recent decision from EA and DICE to give away, previously premium weapons, for free as long as gamers are willing to sign up for marketing programs we bring you this weeks Would You Rather.
Let's pretend that you actually want these free weapons to complete your weapon options in Battlefield: Bad Company would you rather pay a few dollars more for those weapons, or sign up for various programs in order to acquire the new weaponry. Let us assume that these programs will require your name, email and other information you wouldn't ordinarily give away voluntarily would you rather pay for these weapons?
Feel free to share the reasons for your vote in the comments. We'll share the results of the poll during the next edition of Would You Rather ... which hits X3F every Wednesday.
Last weeks WUR results can be find after the jump ... click for your retro look!
Last week we asked which you'd prefer, original Xbox Live Arcade titles or remakes of classic arcade titles. 57.3% of you voted to forego classic remakes in favor of new, original Xbox Live Arcade content. New content like Rocky and Bullwinkle, TiQal and Bliss Island instead of riff-raff like Rez HD, Ikaruga and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. Come on. How could we even ask, right? RIGHT?!

I agree with Jonman, but given the assumption that I do want them, I would sign up for marketing and then opt out as soon as possible.

Or provide false information, since they probably won't be checking up on you or anything. And use a junk/ disposable email for any confirmation codes.

Problem is that EA can get the information directly from MS. Unless you changed it prior to downloading the content, you'd be giving away factual information. EA does this if you want to play any of their latest games over Live. You have to agree to let MS send information about you to EA in order to create an EA account for you and in the disclaimer, they also tell you they might share this information with their partners. It's BS.

Yea, Y'alls polls always suck ... you Defiantly need a "Neither" option in this...
Always you say... lets pretend you want these free weapons... then say would you rather pay a few dollars or a marketing program... they wouldn't be free weapons anymore if you did either of those now would they?

This is definitely a "none of the above" kind of poll. If I had to choose between the lesser of two evils, I would have to put my middle finger in the face of the publisher and not buy their fucking game. I will NOT pay for content that should be in the game, or should be free. Expansions, maps, and anything that truly adds replay value to the game I'm ok paying for, but weapons? Seriously?
Publishers need to stop nickel and diming the very people who support their work, and MS also needs to quit asking developers to charge for trivial DLC or content they'd like to provide free of charge. But most importantly, ignorant gamers need to stop buying these things. Games are already 20 percent more expensive than last gen, so we should expect more from these greedy bastards.

Last I checked, Bad Company was still full priced at $59.99 for pre-order at Amazon. Why are we paying more than that in time or money? I plan on still buying the game, and not getting these extras out of principle. If I find that these "extra" give an unfair advantage, then I'll shelve the game and the franchise.

I won't be doing either, and this is yet another EA title that I will not be purchasing. I bought Rock Band, and EA gets me to purchase DLC in the form of the song packs, but those represent real value to me and extend the game.
But this content is a gimmick and is pathetic. I wouldn't participate in their marketing BS, and I wouldn't pay money for the "extras".

Agreed.
If I want something, I'll happily pay for it. If I don't, I will not.
To answer this poll: Pay for it.

Sounds like EA's marketing department and CFO are running the show over there, which is really too bad for gamers anyway you look at it. I vote for Neither as well.

If I am going to pretend I like the game and want the weapons, I would also fill out a survey pretending my name is Bob Villa or something stupid and give them an email address I only use for spam promotions.
