Is it a lame excuse to boost our post count? Maybe. A slow news day? Could be. The most awesome thing ever? Not really, no. Still, we thought all you kuh-razy
Halo fans out there would like to know that user profiles on Bungie.net now have many, many more background options available. There are some new
Marathon and
Oni images as well as the requisite
Halo imagery. There are also a few other Bungie oddities on there as well. Our favorite is definitely the image above, in which tiny, tiny Spartans wage epic war atop a piano. It is as beautiful as it is ridiculous. Edit your profile today!

I wonder how many people will confuse this with bnet.com.

I was just thinking yesterday whilst playing the new maps that I'd like to see Bungie put out some wacky maps next. The whole millitary/industrial/alien thing is getting a little old. Why not funk things up a little and go psychedelic? Is it that important that every multi-player map fit into the canonical universe? I'm hoping that piano shot is a teaser for a new Living Room map where Master Chief escapes the TV and starts running around in the real world.

I'm also surprised that XBOX Fanboy hasn't picked up on the controversy surrounding the new Legendary map pack.
The new permanent playlist, Team SWAT, coming out in May requires the Legendary maps as do all future double experience weekend playlists (sans Grifball).
Personally, I think that’s a better story and would generate a lot more comments then new backgrounds.

This is the first I've heard of it, actually.

Yep, it was mentioned as part of the last Bungie weekly update but not many people read the last part of the post where the new playlists for May were mentioned.
It's an attempt to create a ranked area for people who bought the Legendary Map pack to counter the problems everyone had finding a game using the Heroic Map pack.

I feel this is a good thing, its not taking away matchmaking for people who don't have them and is giving people who do have them, more matchmaking options which is what people want anyway.

please dont refer to bungie.net as bnet. Every online gaming fan knows that blizzards was using bnet for its "battle.net" way back in the starcraft and warcraft 2 days. I dont even think bungie.com exsisted back then.
And when starcraft 2 comes out, there will be millions upon millions of people back on "bnet". Many more then bungies site anyway. Lets refer to bungie.net as well, bungie.net.

That picture is brilliant, but I think I will stick with Cortana.
