It's been a while since we've heard any big Guitar Hero III news. The assault of Rock Band and its variety and scope of DLC shoved GHIII out of the limelight for many. Whether this new development is any sort of attempt to bring back the game's popularity or not, we can't help but think that this would do better in Rock Band. Basically, Def Leppard is going to be releasing its new single "Nine Lives" via GHIII before any retail or online release. The song will be available in a three song pack that will be online for download April 24th in the US and May 8th in the UK. The other two songs in the pack include "Rock of Ages" and "Photograph".

Maybe, but too bad nobody in the EU is going to buy it.

Yeah, you right about that... after getting Rock Band, there's no reason to buy DLC for GH anymore.
GH has on new song a month and RB has 3+ a week!

If I'm reading things correctly, it'll be available for 360 in Europe on April 24th as well.....only Euro PS3 owners have to wait until May 8th...

How is Harmonix, the people who created GH in the first place, a rip off artist? They ripped off of a design they developed? Uhmm.... okay.

if anything, neversoft are the ripoff cunts, as gh3 basically rips off harmonix's work (as in neversoft took over after the franchise was already established and did a shoddy job)

If you're on about the Euro release then I understand your pain....but really, the Rock Band price is probably more to do with EA rather than Harmonix. You can also pre-order the bundle, and the game for a total of £40 under the RRP at play.com.....

If this were for Rock Band, I'd probably throw down for it. As is..........I've probably bought my last GHIII DLC already.
I'll wait for Rock Band DLC.

From the guitar aspect Guitar Hero 3 is a better game hands down. Playing expert guitar on Rockband is no challenge, where expert on guitar hero requires some skill.

I'm really missing a lot of songs there, "pour some sugar on me", "let's get rocked", "women", "two steps behind" etc. and i'd also love "demolition man" featuring formula 1/guitar-god damon hill =)

They really should just make the entire Hysteria Album, DLC for Rockband.

Dammit, I always used to get Def Leppard and Aerosmith confused, and now Def Leppard go and release a song called Nine Lives?
Huzzah for new GH3 content, I'll be using some of my previous Rock Band budget to pick this up. I'll use the rest to put a deposit on a car.
