[AS ALWAYS WITH ZP, VIDEO IS NSFW!]
With his usual fast mouth and lack of any sort of restraint, Yahtzee of the Zero Punctuation reviews is back this week with a review of Burnout Paradise. He doesn't spend much time on the things that the fanboys were concerned with on forums; choosing instead to focus on the quirky aspects of the game and genre. Issues such as the nature of the street racer, the lack of human life, the mini-map and the design philosophy are all open to him ans he attacks with vigor. Now readers, don't forget that this is all for fun, if you disagree do your best to move on. He's ripped all of our favorite games a new one.Zero Punctuation burns through Burnout Paradise

I myself reviewed Burnout Paradise - one of the few negative reviews out there - and I was aghast it received so many positive reviews. The reviews all sounded like the reviewer spent one hour on the single player, and played multi with the devs for a while.

I emailed my review URL to Ben a few weeks ago, without much comment. I was more critical of the design elements than he is in the video review, if you can believe it.

This guy is a freaking genius. His comments about 'getting some' are right on. Add Pac-Man CE to the short list of games to get in a quicky before getting a quicky.
I think he actually reads gamers minds to come up with his reviews. Even if its the deep dark side of our minds that will always hate every game in some way because we either envy the people that created them or are annoyed those same people didn't make them exclusively for us (exactly they way we want it).
Bravo!
PS While we're being negative towards Burn Out Paradise: I hate ending a race in the mountains only to drive all the way back to town to start another event. And who picked the music track list? Quality EA, not quantity, please. Nevermind I'll just play my own damn music.

I totally agree with Yahtzee on this one. It took me a whole 20 minutes to figure out Burnout Paradise was crap. It's a joke of a racer. Granted, i'm more of a fan of sim racers like Forza, but I'm not against arcade racers like Excite Truck. It's when you try to mix the two that it's either done right (Need for Speed Series) or wrong (Burnout Paradise).

I like Yahtzee and this review as always made me laugh. However, I mostly disagree with him.
I absolutely love Burnout Paradise. I have over 70 hours logged into the game both single and multiplayer, and not once did I miss the restart button or care that there were no drivers in the cars or pedestrians on the street.
I quit having to look at the mini-map around the 20 hour mark.
Not all games will appeal to all gamers, and this is clearly one of the more divisive ones out there.

common guys,
if you didn't like the game, you're clearly just wrong. Criterion games said so: http://www.xbox360fanboy.com/2007/12/25/criterion-tells-gamers-why-paradise-is-perfect/

He's right. The new burnout is awful I don't how in hell it got so high reviews. Something fishy if you ask me.

Some franchises I can buy into over and over again, but Takedown was the pinnacle, and the Burnout series doesn't do enough to warrant me buying in every time they release a sequel.
