Remember, a whole 3 days ago, when Epic announced Gears 2? Sure you do, there was the stylized trailer of Marcus Fenix and a locust engaging in an honorable chainsaw duel. Well, the rumor mill is working a bit slowly as of late, as it did take a whole three days for word to get started that the chainsaw versus chainsaw moment seen in the GDC teaser is actually an ingame feature now. According to a Variety blogger who spoke with several people close to the Epic dev team, a melee attack from a chainsaw can be countered, and even repelled, by the person being attacked. How this effects balance, or what it says about future locust weaponry is all speculative at this point though. All in all, true or not, this could possibilty be cool so long as it doesn't end up being a button-mashing mess.

I thought that everyone knew that, just from looking at the vid? That's why I was excited, because it fixes almost a dozen different things that come up in multiplayer with the chainsaw. Anyway, it should be good stuff.

Yes, everyone knew. We all believe everything we see in a trailer is going to make it in the actual game.... dipshit.

i kinda thought this was a given.
i really hope GOW2 isn't plagued with all the problems the first did, i imagine they will be working a hell of alot more on the multiplayer on this one than the first, just to avoid that. The problems in the MP in the first one just kinda ruined the online experience for me.

Well this was just one of the things cut from Gears 1. so i can,t see why it wont make it this time. On gears one it was sort of a Q-time button

You're such a douche bag. It's only obvious now since it's been pointed out to you. Where was your comment day 1 about this subject? Oh that's right, it was non-existant. Dork!

I really hope it won't take affact as a button-mashing mini game and you have something like an attack button and a defence button. Hopefully you will be invincible in chainsaw duels so you can have a really long one.

I was actually more excited by the fact that fenix was running with the chainsaw going, makes more out of the sneak attack. Although no doubt many will hate that.

It just seems that this will end up like Halo 3's melee who-hit-B-first fiasco.

I hope this settles the randomness of two guys coming at each other with chainsaws. But more than anything, they gotta fix all the glitches in this game. CoD4 became my go to multiplayer game specifically because there wasn't cheating to ruin it.

There are some things you can do, but its basically all on classic deathmatch or whatever it is, you know the one noone plays.

I thought that was the point of the video. Looks pretty cool, I hope they have more than one animation.

It seriously took this long for this rumor? Seriously that was the first thing that came to mind. That and the new way to kill someone with the chainsaw, through the back.
