In a GDCinterview with X-Play, Portal lead designer Kim Swift has seemingly confirmed the existence of Portal 2. Now, this isn't exactly shocking, as only weeks ago Valve's Doug Lombardi stated that "more Portal" was definitely on the way, though he did not confirm exactly what shape it would take. This led to speculation that it could either be downloadable content for the game or a full blown sequel. There is a wrinkle worth mentioning though, as Swift's "confirmation" was derived from the statement, "I believe Doug Lombardi, who's our lead marketing director at Valve, has announced Portal 2." And therein, dear readers, lies the rub. Was she referring to Doug's "more Portal" comment or something else? Given that Swift is the lead designer of the original game, and Lombardi's previous quotes noted that upcoming Portal-related content would be more than just "a bunch of new puzzles," we'd say Portal 2 is all but assured at this point.
Ah Portal 2 would be amazing maybe they could give it a real life twist maybe Glados gets into your computer or something and sends you trawling through the streets of city 17/ New York with only your nifty portal gun by your side. Whatever it will be I'll get it, either for the 360 if its a good deal or just off steam. Also sounds like the developers got the dream game development process, straight out of school, how nice that must be, now to go teach myself how to code and model. Hmm that could take a while.
I honestly am figuring/hoping it's going to appear in HL2: Episode 3, honestly. It'd add a lot and clearly it'd not be impossible, some fan hacked it into HL2 a while back.
Wow didn't even know they were gonna make an episode 3. When is it supposed to come out and do you think it'll be downloadable content for The Orange Box or will it be an independant retail game?
I got all excited when I read that title, thought there'd be some juicy details (and screens) in the article! And it's nothing more than wild speculation.
You big tease!
@CCC: Episode3 is definitely on the way, but not sure if it'll be part of another bundle or stand-alone or what. I've got them crossed for another bargain bundle!

Has anyone considered the idea of just having this device in Gorden Freeman's inventory for a Half Life 3?
