Speaking to Wired, Microsoft Game Studios VP Shane Kim mentioned the possibility of a sequel to Crackdown. While Real Time Worlds -- creators of Crackdown -- stated last year that a sequel wasn't in the works (they're focusing on other projects), it seems Kim is still open to the idea. It seems that the folks at the Microsoft gang still "love" Crackdown, as Kim says, "We consider that a pretty successful title for us, high-quality, I think that customers would like to see more in that space. So that's an option for us." What remains unknown is whether Microsoft intends to ask Real Time Worlds to create the sequel or if the project will be given to a different developer. While the prospect of Crackdown 2 is definitely music to our ears, we can only hope the reins wind up in the right hands. The remainder of Kim's Wired interview comes out soon. Here's hoping we can learn more.

this game was pretty good.. however the lack of more than 2 play multiplayer really made the replay very low.
if they could have 4 player co-op and more, this would be worth doing.
that and a decent story or something.
I did like tossing cars at people though.

This game doesnt get enough credit for how good it was. I enjoyed it a lot more than Halo 3's single player mode by a lot. I bought it for Crackdown, and i would love to see a Crackdown 2.

Crackdown was such a great game and has so much potential, I hope that they just make the game last longer in #2. Microsoft should definitely hold on to that IP because it could turn into the something really successful.

This is exciting news, even though it could not be any more rumor-y. Crackdown will always find a way back into my Xbox's disc tray. It has great graphics, cool style and an awesome sense of scale. So long as they learned from their mistakes (of which there were many), development reins should still be left with RTW. A more story-driven sequel would kick some serious heinyn

Crackdown was an absolutely awesome game. It was fun, looked good, played well, the Achievements were dished out well, the difficulty seemed about right. If they added deathmatch style Multi-player then I would be happy.
Either RW lied about developing it, or it isn't being developed yet but is in the design stage at RW.
I doubt this much. I reckon that likely another studio is in charge, so the game might end up gimped. RW knew what they were doing when they made Crackdown.

Holy crap, this probably the best news I've ever read on X3F.
I played the sh** outta Crackdown after it came out. A couple weeks ago I popped it back in for nostalgia's sake and haven't touched Halo 3 or Call of Duty 4 since.
This game was so underrated. I'm an FPS guy, but if you gave me the choice of getting Crackdown 2 or getting Halo 4 AND Call of Duty 6 (5 will suck) AND Bioshock 2 I'd take Crackdown 2 over all three of the others.
Hopefully this pressures Realtime Worlds into doing the sequel themselves.
