Earlier this morning, Activision stood high atop their gold pedestal and gloated to the media masses (via the use of a handy press release) that its money making, cash cow Call of Duty 4 was the most purchased video game in 2007. According to Acti and all the sales numbers, CoD4 has sold in excess of seven million copies across all platforms worldwide since its November release. And we believe it. Infinity Ward definitely hit a home run with CoD4 and should be living the good life with all the positive CoD4 news making the media rounds. If we were them, we'd hold out our hands and demand a raise or, at the very least, an in-studio roller coaster.

but now you've informed the average consumer. when i say average consumer, i mean news hungry 360 fanboys. i guess it's not really the same thing...but i am also confused about the 8.1 mil being less than 7. i went to grade 1. i know my numbers, and this does not compute.

Played more COD4 than Halo3...much faster and a tighter package.
Only downer is it makes most other games seem like a pointless excercise.
Deserves all the accolades it has got.

I'm releasing a statement that claims that my game "paper football" hit #1 in 2007, for sales of paper related games.

Now if you make another release saying your Paper Airplane is #1 in 2007 for sales of paper related games, I'm going to be slightly suspicious.
Actually I'm pretty sure Paper Mario has you beat.

It's obvious that I meant actual paper and not digital paper. My paper airplane IS the #1 paper game for 2007, it TOTALLY outsold Halo3 and COD4. *cough* in the paper gaming market*cough*

I thought the overall SP of CoD3 was good. I think the issue with MP was the use of Demonware for the party system. But, that's my opinion, and they are like a certain orifice - everybody has one.
But...congrats to IW. CoD4 is a great game, addicting as hell.

Thats strange, why are they saying that it sold the most in 2007 when they said it sold 7 mil but H3 sold 8.1 mil?
These are the things that make you go hmmm...

@ zerodis2001: If CoD4 was released simultaneously with Halo 3, the Halo hype would have buried it to a degree, so initial sales might not have been as high.
And if it did sell 8 million like Halo did, Halo's sales would still be more impressive because Halo 3 did it on just one console, CoD4 did it on several consoles.
/Fan of both games

To the comments about IW and Treyarch:
Do you think IW may get the green light for all future COD games seeing how 4 has been so succesful?
