Video: RSV2 to feature a re-worked reward system
Ubisoft just released a new Rainbow Six Vegas 2 development diary video today with lead designer Philippe Therien talking about the changes RSV2 will see, some of the environments and the new upgraded reward system. Which, we must admit, is pretty cool.
In general, Ubisoft completely overhauled RSV2's reward and upgrade system that rewards players for every action or objective completed in the game. The rewards are broken into three categories, Experience Points, Ranks and A.C.E.S. Experience Points are earned through killing enemies, reaching checkpoints and completing objectives and can be tracked on the new XP meter at the bottom of the HUD. Once the XP meter is full, the player will unlock a new Rank which in turn unlocks new clothing and visual enhancements for your soldier. The final reward is A.C.E.S. and are earned through Close Quarters, Assault and Marksmanship feats you complete which eventually unlock weapon upgrades. It may sound a bit confusing, but watch the video, listen to Mr. Therien and everything should make sense. And did we mention that ALL character upgrades will not only save to your multiplayer and campaign profiles, but can also be earned through multiplayer, single player campaign and single player co-op gaming? Suh-weet!

Sounds just like COD4's system in MP.
Rip off?
Can't say I care if it is. I like it.

Hey, if they had to rip off any part of COD4, this would be the best choice.
i think this will make the replay value on RSV2 much more than the original.

This has advantages and disadvantages.
Advantage is that I can unlock stuff whilst playing SP, which I think is a trend that games should all take.
Disadvantage SP will have limited weapons at start, which will make the game less fun, and my playing style may mean that I won't unlock weapons I really want.
I hope that it is implemented well, it is a good idea, but could easily ruin the game.
Here's to the game being the best it can be.

Hey, we fucked up the first game, so here's the same one again, but actually finished.
I'll still buy it.

For a 'fucked up' game it was a LOT better than most 360 FPSs.

anything they can learn from cod4 is good..
think about it. how can this game even compare to cod4 without some of these features.
not being able to sprint in a game like this is unacceptable..
(yes I am talking about hal0)
and who doesnt love leveling up??
kudos to these guys for being smart.

Can't wait for this game... and I'm also of the mind that "borrowing" from COD4 is a good thing.
I loved the first Vegas.

Completely 100% agree!! I don't think that borrowing good game mechanics is a bad idea. Its when you don't improve on them or don't add anything new is when something becomes stale.

Borrowing ideas is how games advance and improve I wish we had sprinting in R6V, walking around with the package didn't make much sense...

R6:V2 is not like COD4. It's just like the first one where tactics are priority one where COD4 is tactics and running and gunning, whichever you choose. They did add the running like COD4 but I see total reason for it since I hated how slowly the player walked in some cases.
Anyways, R6:V2 is looking AWESOME and I'm getting it day one.

COD this and that COD4 modern Warefare is sweet but in the end is little more than a RB6V wanna be with all the tactical stradigy taken out. No that RB6V2 will have sprinting this game is complete.

COD single player was not tactical, it was a run and gun. Bad guys didnt stop spawning in certain areas until you pressed on thru....
If they are learning from COD then great. Games should learn from other games, turning the next game into a better game and so on.
Personally I like Rainbow Six better then COD4 but thats me. I can not wait for this game and to play it co-op with my brothers, hopefully it can be up to 4 players on co-op.
