Over on both deceiverdeceived.com and betrayerbetrayed.com (two official DMC4 websites) IGN spotted a placeholder graphic for a DMC4 downloadable widget that lists a specific release date for the demo. The placeholder graphic states that the DMC4 online demo will be released to the XBLM on January 31st. Plain as English, simple as black and white. The only question mark here is the fact that this is simply a placeholder graphic for the widget and when the widget is downloaded, it makes no mention of the demo's release date. So, either we have confirmation of a January 31st release or a graphic artist just made up some news and random dates for a website graphic. Puzzling stuff.

Am I going to spoil DMC3 (never got past the 3rd or 4th level; have to go back and finish it... uh, sometime) if I play DMC4?

No one knows yet. That's the mystery of this game. According to the G4 interview yesterday, the chronological order is DMC 3,1,2,4. So theoretically, you could ruin it for yourself it you play DMC4 first. Just finish 3. It's a real treat.

The actual order is 3,1,4,2. Apparently, Capcom wants little to do with DMC2 so there going to try and release games before 2 ever happend. I didn't like 2 so much so I'm fine with it.

I have seen this place holder on every forum so far. The one thing I don't understand is that people are to caught up in the Jan 31st news that they don't see the date above it. "10/21/08 Devil May Cry 4 is released." Can anyone explain this? I won't belive it till I get offical news from Capcom.
On another note, I am hoping that it gets released tomorrow on the Japan PSN. I finally made an account. *crosses fingers*

Yea I think this dude has a point, the countdown to the right has 28 days on the clock but the actual release it shows is closer to 10 months away.
I'm going with the artist made stuff up explanation and hoping that the demo is actually coming a lot sooner :)
