The new downloadable content (slash) update for
Team Fortress 2 prophecy is slowly becoming a reality, with confirmation that changes will be in place within two months.
Talking to
ShackNews, Valve has confirmed that
Team Fortress 2, one-
fourth fifth of the
Orange Box, will be receiving an update that'll bring significant gameplay tweaks aimed at being a "large scale modification to the core of the game," that will "debut in a limited fashion through the Medic first, but it'll be affecting all classes eventually". Specific gameplay changes were not detailed, but we do know they will rollout as part of the Medic Achievement Pack which, as it sounds, will bring
36 new achievements to the medic class. Valve also mentioned that they are working on two new multiplayer maps including a remake of
Team Fortress's classic map Badlands, but both maps are currently slated to be only available on the PC with a 360 release yet to be determined.
There's a bunch to look forward to for
TF2 fans, but we can't help being a bit bummed about the uncertainty of the two new maps releasing to the 360. We are also torn about the medic class getting all the tweaks and achievements, while the other classes sit on the sidelines. And 36 new achievements? That has to be a mistake ... right?

Isn't TF2 1/5 of the Orange Box. (HL2, HL2EP1, HL2EP2, Portal and FT2)
Im just wondering if they'll ever add a splitscreen multiplayer to the mix

You are probably right, but they may have just put the Episodes in as one part of the game.

I still haven't beaten Portal, let alone tried TF2, sole reason is CoD 4 is just so dang addicting.

You really should give Portal a play, it's worth it if you like puzzles and shooters :)
TF2 is a great game as well, but I prefer COD4...They're both shooters...but that's about the only similarity between the two, haha

I read on the Steam Forums (And yes this was posted by a Valve Staff Member) that Valve had to do a bit of begging to get 99 achievements in the first place so now they can't add any more achievements to 360.

Bit dissappointing really, I liked mopping up the original acheivments for this game. Initially I thought that the 36 achievments would give you a cumulative total of around 30G, Valve adding a new set of achievments for each class they gradually update (i.e. Demoman gets a further 36 achievments for 30G)...thought it would be kinda cool. Let's just hope that Valve, having been so good at begging the first time to get the original 99, can convince Microsoft to let them have another few hundred achievments...a man can dream...

What the hell is wrong with Valve?
TF2, whenever I feel cocky enough to put the game into my 360, STILL SUFFERS spotty host connections and general wonkiness. When did this game come out...October? And it's still barely playable online?
The small number of maps and gametypes grew a bit boring early on and while I love what the game should be (I mean, come on, it looks totally f-ing awesome!), but it's just been a disappointing experience so far. And now the medic gets a bunch of achievements before any other class and we may or may not get a whopping........wait for it........TWO MAPS?!??!?!?!?!?!?!!!!!!??!?!!
WHAT THE FUCKITY FUCK, VALVE??????? LAME.
Guess I'll be sticking with COD4 for my online shooter experience (even that isn't perfect, but at least it works most of the time).

Guys, the Achievements are obviously not for the 360 version. The great software package Steam has achievements that work in the same way Xbox 360 achievements work. Steam also has friend lists, clans, groups, schedueled tournaments all from within the software. And it's totally free. And totally kicks Windows Live's butt. I bought the orange box on steam when it went on sale, and even though I didn't have my firends list I just joined the Penny-Arcade group and a few others, then played some 32 player matches with no lag!

New Maps are a must
If they're going to change any gameplay, needs to fix how well over half the classes have shotguns, and only the Sniper has some sort of Assault Rifle/machinegun/what ever. Medic's gun is crap, and Heavy is a Chaingun so :/

When they say they'll start with the Medic it is probably a fix for the needle gun. It fires down and to the left of the crosshair, pretty nasty for players who don't know that.
