Publisher Del-Rey Books has announced that a sequel to the novel Mass Effect: Revelation is in the works. Entitled Mass Effect: Ascension, the novel is set to span the time between the first game and the second (Mass Effect is a trilogy remember). Drew Karpyshyn, writer of both the first Mass Effect novel and game, is also authoring Ascension. At the moment, that's about all we know. No release date or price have been set. If we had to hazard a guess, we'd say it's probably a safe bet that the book will be roughly $10 and release in time for the Mass Effect 2 marketing blitzkrieg.

I only paid about $10 for Revelation when it came out...
I'd be willing to shell out even $20 for the next book, because the writing in it was AMAZING.

I have no idea how they will follow on from the game since it basically lets you decide the ending.
A guy from bioware even said on their forums to keep hold of you end of game save on their forums so you must be able to have an effect on the story instead of just following an 'official' story no matter what.

Yea. Really that's what they should do regarding the game.
I think if you take the title into consideration, the council WILL survive. What would be the point of having a novel named after a ship that got blown up previously?

I'm gonna guess *******SPOILER ALERT SPOILER ALERT******* this is going to be regarding what happens to the council with the forthcoming Reapers and all...but how does this compute with the fact that you had the option of whether or not to save the council at the end of the game? *******END SPOILER*******

LOL...thank bro. I do my best when I have time. And I've been at work all this week (finished exams on Saturday) which is why I've been able to be so active.
The only reason why I didn't get a mention on this story was because Joystiq posted it, everyone took the link from Joystiq and sent it in as a news tip, hoping to get their name on a story. lol I visit Joystiq 1-2 times per week. X3F though, it's an everyday necessity.

I just checked the time of Joystiq's post...10:30am. (Hell, if I'm not mistaken CVG is based out of England, and they posted their news at 2:30pm GMT, which is 9:30am EST) I was in the office at 8:00. I tipped this probably at 8:30 at the latest, because I got it from TeamXbox who posted it yesterday. Rich, can you confirm when I tipped it? Thanks.
Which means, ah nvm. I won't get on X3F's back about it.
Love X3F! :D

I would rather they used DLC to fill in the gap between ME and ME 2...

If I'm not mistaken, BioWare already said there will be content to fill part of the gap if not all... (In the game, why do you think you can go straight to the Marketplace?)

yes, I know there will be DLC.
I would rather any story important stuff happen in game, rather than in a linear book.
