We have to agree with Joystiq that we're not quite sure to whom the MadCatz HDMI Conversion Kit is supposed to appeal. Of course, not all 360s have HDMI, but we're willing to bet that anyone who really cares about HDMI probably won't want a converter. We're no technical wizards, but we know that unless the signal is HDMI to begin with, it's not really HDMI anyway. It does scale to 1080p, but so does every other available 360 connection option. We suppose there is the possibility that it's simply more convenient, as it replaces multiple RCA connector with one HDMI connector and an optional optical cable. Even then, $90 seems a bit steep just to clear up some cable clutter. Then again, if you're rocking a 1080p TV, another $90 probably isn't that much. Should you desire one of the wonder-devices, they go on sale beginning in January.

VGA>HDMI for the 360. HDMI on the 360 makes you choose between 480p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080p. VGA lets you choose the actual resolution of your monitor... go figure.

VGA = analog.
So pick your poison I guess. Do you want non-native resolution with a digital signal, or a native resolution with an analog signal. I'd pick the former. A non-native HD resolution is just fine for video and gaming. We're not photo editing on this thing.

At $100 w/tax for an HDMI converter, I'd rather sell my 360 bundled with a few games I don't play and then buy an Elite.

Good accessory if your tv's composite connection is only 720p (some older hdtvs only support 1080p/i over HDMI).
For me, I'll just wait until my December 2005 bricks, get it refurbed, ebay it, and buy an arcade with HDMI to slap my harddrive on.

It is a little late. But hardly any TVs will do 1080p through composite. And some people have issues when using VGA. So I guess this is for the small minority of people who have 1080p TVs, have an older 360, and either dont have VGA or can't run 1080p over component.
I know my TV wont do 1080p over and doesnt have a VGA port.
Or you could trade yours in for one with HDMI. Which would probably be smarter in the long run.
