Do you live in the United States? Do you own an Xbox 360? If you answered yes to both of these questions, there's about a 1-in-2 chance that you own Halo 3. At least, that's what GameDaily says. How do they know this? Elementary, dear reader. With an Xbox 360 installed base of 7.9 million units in the US and 4.1 million copies of Halo 3 sold in the US, that's an impressive 52% of US 360 owners with a copy of their very own. Furthermore, Halo 3 had a profound effect on console sales. As analyst Anita Frazier noted, "That is why content is so important - a really killer game drives hardware adoption more than any other factor (including price cuts)." So, for the record, if anyone asks you, Halo 3 is the most successful thing ever.

That is true Toro... except for the fact that excluding Halo 3... PS3 owners probably have the same FPS arguments....
now those poor Wii owners on the other hand...although i do have to admit... Wii Jenga is a bit of fun with a group.

The Wii has plenty going for it. While I do have an Xbox 360 to satisfy the hardcore gamer in me, I do love my Wii too.
Take a look at the top Wii games on metacritic and you'll see it's not lacking in games at all. We're simply in a day and age where one console just isn't enough. I love my 360, but I can't go without my Mario, Zelda and Metroid.

It's a great game, good variety in the levels, but best when played with a friend. I think people just like to be 'special', and since there are fewer people who hate Halo than those who like it, this fills their need. With features like forge and the recording feature, Halo3 is unique in many ways to other console shooters. Definately earned it's sales.

That's insane, so 50% of 360 owners did not buy Halo 3. I don't know a single person with a 360 who didn't buy the game within a day or 2 of its release.

when i was in line to buy cod4 the day it came out, a nerd in front of me had his halo 3 with him to trade it.
that doesnt mean anything but I just thought Id share that.
secondly, every night on my friend list I see at least 90% of my friends playing cod 4. when h3 came out everyone was playing that, but for the past month at least I rarely see anyone playing that.
lots of people moved on to cod 4. I actually put my copy of h3 in the other day for the first time in 4 ever cause my friend was over who had never seen it and was telling me he was thinking about buying a ps3. (i just threw up in my mouth a little bit). I played a couple of matches, and it was cool for sure. but I went right back to cod4.
theyre different games obviously, and both have awesome things going for them, but multiplayer in cod4 is just more rewarding, youre always progressing and unlocking things. Best system ive seen in a multiplayer game yet. not to mention the single player in cod4. its awesome, but then again, halo 3 on legendary with 3 other people co op was one of the best experiences ive had in gaming. that shit was awesome.
3rd
ive got 980/1000 gamerscore in cod4 only missing the 30 intel achievement and I have all 30 intels. I had the slo mo cheat on when I picked up the 30th and I wont give me the achievement and I cant pick up any more intels cause theyre gone. it hurts, deep down inside, it hurts.
imo
cod4 > halo 3
what does this have to do with the post? no clue.
am I bored? extremely.
if I could leave work right now and go home to my beloved 360, what would I play?
call of duty 4 without a doubt.

@28 I'd say that less than half of 360 owners did not purchase Halo 3 - considering some like me who have more than one 360 (TRLoD before warranty extension).
