I beg to differ.
Ocean's Thirteen was unfunny and boring. Lots of stuff happening on screen I couldn't care less about and plotholes so big you could fit the Eurotunnerl in it. Yet another Ocean's movie where the actors had a better time making the movie than the audience watching it.
Shrek III was easily the worst of the series. The perfect example how Hollywood can ruin the memory of a great first movie by producing unnecessary sequels, each one worse than the one before. I loved Shrek but those two other movies plus the awful games made me loathe the character. I really don't get it why utter crap like Shrek III made more money than Ratatouille which was a work of absolute genius. Heartwarming, funny, brilliantly animated, filled with esprit and wit, it was the complete opposie of the lowest common denominator tripe that was Shrek III.

ymmv,
You actualy answered your own "i don't really get" statement when you said that Shrek panders to the lowest common denominator while Ratatouille was a gem of a film filled with wit and charm. I imagine that much of America wouldn't, or couldn't understand the subtlety of Pixar's latest masterpiece... all well, atleast the two of us enjoyed it.
On a more personal note, I can't afford a damn blu-ray player (well, i just refuse to spend $400-$500 on one) but Pixar is releasing only on blu-ray. Damn you pixar!!!

That makes 3 of us.
I wont buy a BluRay player right now for the same reason. I didnt want to wait until I had one to own Ratatouille so I got it on DVD. I'm perfectly fine with it because the transfer is stunning. Even my tech-savvy friends were impressed at its quality.
As for Shrek the Third, I dont have any intention on seeing it. The first was good, the 2nd was meh... I'll leave it at meh.
