Employees will be fired if Halo 3 boxes opened

Our beloved Halo 3 is already being shipped and is making its way into retailers around the world, and employees are being warned not to mess with them otherwise the pink-slip-hammer will be dropped.

In a memo sent from corporate to numerous electronics retailers including Gamestop, Wal-Mart and Game Crazy, they are warning employees to not open shipments of Halo 3 until launch day arrives and those who break the seal can and will be fired on the spot. Stories from numerous retail employees are popping up all over confirming this heightened Halo 3 awareness with some retailers going as far as to lock up early Halo 3 shipments so no one is tempted to open them. And even with such security we can almost guarantee someone or some store (here's looking at you Toys R Us) will break the street date or leak a few copies. Heck, Australia is already a part of that black market.

1. I love you Toys R Us. Maybe now you can let me get Halo 3 early too. :)

2. Lol if you ask me Bungie and M$ are highly experienced with the banhammer. Out of the millions purchasing this game, I'm sure someone will get their copy early (I hope not). X3F will keep us posted.

3. I know a lot of places, if they get them early, keep their extra media (games, music, DVDs) in a special section of the storage area to begin with. Target, for example, essentially has this cage that only the electronics managers and stockers are supposed to be able to access.

Just saying that locking this stuff up isn't that uncommon.

4. Zellers has the same cage (Canadian equiv of Target).

5. Bandit videos in turnersville NJ is alreadt selling copies of halo3.

6. I know that Wal-Mart does have a security room that is called the G-Room that is always locked and only the assistant managers have the key. None of them are gamers so they wouldn't open them and if you told them you needed the Halo 3 box, you would more than likely not get it. Not gonna try either. The unloaders didn't have a chance to take a look either. Usually they don't lock anything up either. Even they took and locked up the Halo 3 Xbox 360s but those were opened which I got to check out.

7. I'm sorry, but if the game is at the store, it should be fair game. Gimme my Halos!

8. Anyone have any experience with preordering online? I'm wondering who has the best record of getting a game to you on the release date. Amazon? Costco? I saw that Gamestop will guarantee delivery by 9/25, but you have to shell out an extra $10 for next-day shipping. What's your experience?

Posted at 2:27PM on Sep 13th 2007 by Iliad Force

9. um, Last time i check the manager of every gamestop i have every gone too are teenagers. wtf do they care if they get fired. If they can make a cool profit on the game or be the first guy on the block with teh Halo3 they're all for opening the shipment early.

Posted at 2:32PM on Sep 13th 2007 by Mauricio

10. you cant trust teenagers! it will be online in 24 hours.

12. Watch out now MS is bringing out the Warhammer

13. Seems like m$ would be able to see if people are on their box playing it. They could really regulate on their side and pass out bans.

If I was 18 and worked at gamestop I would have no problem walking out with a few copies.

Posted at 3:03PM on Sep 13th 2007 by Edog Lost

14. Yeah, I can also confirm this. I work at Best Buy and instead of keeping the boxes in the media warehouse (where all the other not-yet-to-be-opened boxes are), they keep them in the admin office where only a handful of people (re: managers) are allowed to enter. I just wanted to see the boxes... but they won't even let me in the office. wtf.

15. Enough with the talk of banning already. You CANNOT get banned for playing a retail game on xbox live before the release date.

16. OMG You guys are all so fired just for talking about the idea of it being sold earlier. MS won't allow incitement!

17. i was gonna quit anyway BITCHEZZZ! then drop $60 plus tax on the counter and be on my way!

Posted at 3:09PM on Sep 13th 2007 by MYPS3KilledMy360

18. @8 - If you want it the day of, you'll kind of have to pay for next day delivery... which I think is around $10 almost anywhere.

I'd almost recommend against Amazon because I've had problems getting games from them in the past. I've never had an issue with Gamestop.

19. Hey MYPS3killedMyXbox360 haven't seen you in a while! I remember all the flame wars we used to have :)

Are you finally hopping on the H3 bandwagon? Did you fix your 360?

20. Whatever, I do what I want!
