Available this morning on the Xbox Live Marketplace is a newly new Tony Hawk's Proving Ground demo. And yes, you're correct, this is the same demo that we were promised on Monday. But it's better getting it later than never and to be honest we're just push overs. Next time Activision we won't be so understanding. The THPG demo is a hefty 1.04GB download and features skating fun in Philadelphia where you can try out the new video editor, customize your environment or just Nail a Grab. This is your first shot at comparing the reigning champion Tony Hawk with newcomer skate, so do yourself a service and crown your personal skating game victor. We'll be by your side with water bottle and bandages in hand.

Skate feels new and fresh, but Tony Hawk is still my fav becuase its just easier to pick up and play plus it has all the over the top moves that you couldnt do in real life !

I dunno, this Tony Hawk, and the past few iterations, have all felt too tacky and overdone to me. I downloaded this, played through it for a few minutes, but immediately gave it up. I felt none of the accessibility that people tout it for. skate is definitely more up my ally.

I thought this Demo was supposed to come with GHIII demos as well. Odd. Unless I am mistaken.

Just my opinion here, but skate feels more of a skating sim whereas the Tony Hawk series has always felt more arcadey. Not that that's a bad thing as sometimes it's nice to spend an eternity in the air popping big tricks to get the combo score over a million.
I'll admit I've only played the skate demo a few times but although they're skateboard games they a very different. (Haven't tried Probing Ground yet, still in work for another half hour.)

Graphics are nice but there isn't enough new to this game for me to run out and buy it. Skate FTW.

THPG is simply not worthy of standing in the list next to my Skate demo.
I'm such a snob.

tony halks is best described as "ham shank" or "ball wank" may as well break out the old ps2 and bash some buttons.

I have to say this: skate's demo kicked TH demo's ass so far. I've never played any skateboarding games before and in fact don't know that much about skateboarding. Not only did I feel like I learned useful info on real life skateboarding (in skate) but I felt real happy with myself when I started pulling off the more complex moves. Enough so that I still play the demo several time a week.
The controls for skate. make a lot of sense for what my character is doing on the screen. My first impression of the control scheme for TH is that it's unintuitve. I think new comers and casual players would do well to start out playing skate first. I want to play through the TH demo a couple more times to give it a chance though.

I think I'm the only person alive that doesn't like skate. It seems too much like Need for Speed to me, which IMO is a fairly boring series.

the only similarity between Skate and Need for Speed is that they are both computer games...

Skate all the way, Proving ground is just a rehash of the previous tony hawk games. I could only play the demo for 5 - 10 mins before i had to put skate on. Also i found the new rigging style to be tedious. Tho the balance system for grinding was maybe an improvement. But still its no Skate :D

EA is kicking Actavisions ass this holiday.
Skate will destroy the tony hawk franchise and rockband could quite possiably make guitar hero 3 look like garbage. The only thing actavision has going for them is COD4.
