This whole fiasco might have dropped call of duty 4 from "Buy" to "Rent" for me this holiday season. Their hosting company lied to them my ass; no hosting company could have handled that type of mass traffic, and Infinity Ward knows it. This is a pathetic attempt to shift blame off of themselves, and to attempt PR mending. Let's just hope we can get this thing downloaded and start playing by tomorrow atleast.

I think there are some hosting companies that could handle it. its just a matter of scalability and having the right backend. maybe they needed a mysql cluster. maybe they needed to have a system to start new web servers up on the fly instead of a static amount. but its not IW's fault if their hosting solution lied to them. that's what businesses do, they get other companies to do stuff for them and they depend on those businesses to keep their word. i would blame IW's hosting company, not IW.

and going from "buy" to "rent"? that's a fair-weathered fan at its best. its a BETA. if they wanted, they could do what most companies do and not have any beta and make you wait for the game to be actually released. they're giving you a gift. and you reward them by saying you're probably not going to buy it cause of some hosting problem for a couple days? maybe you're not the type of fans IW wants anyways...

I already have the beta. It's really great!!!! Sucks you guys missed out though. *evil laugh* Just kidding, it really sucks that they couldn't handle the traffic but that's good news that there is a 24 hour period to get in now. Also, the guy saying he won't buy the game now because of the beta problems. You need to be grateful that they are even offering a beta.

I dont know about you guys, but all this has been TOO MUCH FUN!!! LOL! Seriously though I hope we all get into this damn beta! Someday!

Yeah, Beta is pretty much amazing. I got it through F&F cause I had been on the site for like 4 months. It's too bad that you all can't get it as soon as today. I was really hoping they would raise the level cap above 11.

Hey whenever i go to Charlie Oscar Delta and try to register for a simple acount it gives me a message saying you cannot join at this time. I have had this problem since before the site crashed. Again this is not for the beta, but only for an acount. Can any1 help me out?
