Peter Molyneux says it all the time. When you play Fable 2, he wants you to really feel something. As Eurogamer reports, Lionhead's staging director Georg Backer, who spoke in Molyneux's stead at GCDC in Europe, wants Fable 2 to be on par with movies and television as an entertainment choice. In order to achieve this end, Lionhead has been employing several techniques used in the movies and television to craft Fable 2. For instance, the company hired a sword master who worked on movies like Gladiator and Troy to help them design the combat. Lionhead has also worked with a film editor to better understand the best way to present the action to the player. Backer noted that realism isn't necessarily what's important. What's important, Backer said, is "that the drama is conveyed on-screen." Achieving such goals in the movies, says Backer, often involves distorting realism in favor of what conveys the proper meaning. "For us," said Backer, "this is a really new thing and we really desperately want to make sure that this drama and emotion gets pushed in games."
A noble goal indeed. Might we suggest the gang at Lionhead take some time to research BioShock while they're at it?

True that Dj, though it isn't fair comparison. Halo 3 can't be touched by any other games in my opinion, this game doesn't even have a chance.

LOL...there's one distinct reason why fable 2 is being released in 2008: Halo 3.
There is one distinct reason why plenty games are choosing 2008: Halo 3.
Halo 3 WILL be the greatest game for a LONG time to come.

If I wanted to read an article on Halo 3, I'd read an article on Halo 3.
By the power of some unknown force, I wanted to read a Fable 2 article, because sometimes other games come out for the 360 which aren't Halo 3.
So you'd think a Fable 2 article would be followed by some Fable 2 comments, huh?

This is going to be a great game the only thing is only believe half of what PM says.
And to be fair the Halo 3 is a completely different game, genre and everything.
Unfortunatly you are both right in that it will be overshadowed but Fable was a great game and I expect even more of the same from the sequal

Oh no doubt it'll be an awesome game, and I can't wait for it, I'm just saying that doing this, aka making you game more "movie-and-tv-like" is NOTHING compared to how Bungie and MGS are testing Halo 3...

It gets a little grating when you want to look for news on other games, but your constantly reminded how great Halo 3 will be, etc etc.
OK, yeah, we get the point. They said the same about Halo 2, which I admit was a great game, but since then I've played games with far-less production and testing, games which I believe are far better.
To be fair, I'll probably enjoy Fable 2 more than Halo 3 - as soon as the campaign is done, all that's left is multiplayer which be an absolute bloody nightmare once the glitches, bridgers, etc. inevitably start again.

I already learned my lesson about listening to anything Molyneux says when I got the first Fable.

Bio Shock has already has accomplished this and thats on the demo. As for Halo3 a lot of you are building your expectations up way too high. yes it will be great but you will be spending most of your time online. sure you will play once or twice by yourself but most of the great experience will be playing online and co op shooting crap oblivious to the story line. if anything Halo 3 has the possibilty of being compared to Star Wars episode 3. they both will sell, tie up loose ends and be jampacked with action.

Fable 2 can't get here soon enough for me. I'd wish that Pete Moly et al would stop with all the talking and just finish the game. Pete's got a bad track record when it comes to describing his games pre-release. They often don't match up very good. I really enjoyed the first Fable, and I got the Lost Chapters version to play while I waited for Oblivion to come out. I'm confident Fable 2 will be a fantastic game, but I doubt it will be the game as described by Lionhead. They have already admitted to cutting out certain parts of the game that were some of the first media shown to gamers at last years E3. So by the time it's release date arrives, I can only guess what else is not included, but was discussed at length.

Jesus - Halo is SO overrated it aint even funny. Good game sure, but it really aint all that. I for one certainly won't be buying it upon release after finding Halo a disapointment in its level design, and Halo II more of the same.
Give me something immersive like Mass Effect or Bioshock anyday over all that cookie cutter crap.

I signed up to do Work Experiance with Lionhead but I'm on their waiting list. If I do get in, it will be the greatest experiance of my life and they'll be so impressed in my game testing that they'll have no other option but to hire me on the spot.
