And so the Xbox 360 price cut rumor gets some more ammunition in the form of a leaked ad from Wal-mart. The tiny little picture to the right has been making the rounds on the internet and is supposedly a picture of a future Wal-mart ad. And even though you can't make out any text, you you can see that it lists the Xbox 360 premium at a $349 price point. That's the rumored $50 price reduction. This could of course be an evil trick by Joe Photoshopper, but it is very close to what rumors we've heard. We've personally received tips from supposed advertising insiders stating that price cuts would be coming soon and vary from system to system. We've heard that the Core will be dropping to $279, Premium to $349 and the Elite to $459 US. But we recommend taking everything with a grain of salt to avoid disappointment. That said, we're gambling folks and are going to bet that a price cut announcement will happen by the second week of August. They should get rid of the core, drop the premium to $350, and the elite to $430.

If those price points are right, then they will screw the Elite. Why would anyone pay $110 more for a system just for hdmi and a larger HDD? At that price point you could pay slightly more and go get a PS3 and have the added benefit of blu-ray, or spend $110 less and get a premium along with a couple of games. That would be an awful price point for the Elite if the Premium really ends up at $350.

Nick, at this point, I don't think anyone who wants games would think "Wait...let me put this Elite down because if I pay slightly more I can get a Ps3 with BLU-RAY!"
Whoever is willing to go all the way to get an elite is the person who wants a 360 and to take advantage of it's media(marketplace) abilities. They're not just looking for the best value across the board, or else they'd go Premium Xbox.

All I care about is getting 3400 points for $20!
Is that thing still on?

I'd still rather pay $110 more for the Elite, than to pay $210 for the PS3. Even at that price point($500-530), the PS3 still doesn't look attractive to me.

This is fake. It would say 349.99 if it were real.

Eventually all 360's will have HDMI. I can't see Microsoft having 2 different system boards manufactured at the same time when the cost of adding the HDMI port is most likely minimal.

I think so too. Everything else on that page lists a price in dollars AND cents, and Wal-Mart is well known for listing a goofy amount of cents, like the DS games in the corner for $19.82. Since the XBox only says "$349" I'm pretty sure it's a chop.

Yeah, it has to be fake. It has a $ when no other price does, and it doesn't have two small "cents" numbers.
Fakity fake fake fake.

I certainly hope $20 off isn't the new price of the Elite, that is ridiculous.

this looks like a misprint to me, 349 or 399 whoever typed this ad must have pressed the wrong number...
