2K Sports' latest venture into the football game market
All-Pro Football 2K8 has been met with a
mediocre response from both reviewers and fans alike. Yes, it could be because the game has gameplay issues or because it lacks many common features, but we like to think that subconsciously people have been hard on the game because it doesn't include NFL teams. We're thinking the lack of recognizable NFL team names is causing everyone to hate on
All-Pro 2K8, but friends we have a solution. Phil tipped us off on a simple way to get your favorite NFL team imported into the game, simply by
entering a code. Just find your team's code on his website, enter it into
All-Pro Football 2K8 and soon you'll be playing as your favorite NFL team. Yup, it's that easy. Now you can go back to enjoying your time with
All-Pro 2K8 that is unless the game is fundamentally flawed, then we've just helped you put on a new coat of paint to hide its dents and dings.
Update 1: It looks like these "unlocks" are simply codes to download fan made uniforms that mirror that of the NFL teams. They are still nifty, but not quite official. Sorry for the confusion.

First, the codes are for the uniforms, not to unlock a team.
Second, this game does not suck my friend. If you seriously think so, your knowledge of football is non-existent. The game is the most well rounded football game ever made and actually takes strategy, skill, and a sense for the game.

It would also make me have to deal with being called a 'Cheeser' if I decided to go for a 4th down conversion because I'm not 'Sim'. I thought Halo kids calling me gay for beating them was annoying...

Any game where you can play with a bearded Earl Campbell and a bearded Ken Stabler is OK in my book. The game is a very smart sim in my opinion.

Like AgentPotato said, these are only uniforms. This story is pretty misleading, it probably needs to be updated a little.
The game is pretty fun, but there are lack of offline modes so I can understand the mediocre reviews.

I forgot to mention these are FAN made uniforms. They aren't even real logos so don't get too excited.

ANt's on a personal vendetta against the game for some reason. He's posted in every thread saying that it sucks.
I don't care about franchise mode (how would that work will legendary players anyway?!?). Online play is solid, and that's where the replayability comes from.
Plus, it has online leagues, something Madden doesn't have. Worth the price of admissions right there.

I can't believe you guys think an average of 74 is mediocre and from the message boards I've read fans seem to love the game. I've played it since 2k on the DC and I think it's great. If you think about it a franchise mode is hard to do in this type of game.

Actually, I wanted this game to be good, really good. Madden has been sub-par since its inception on the 360.
I am dissapointed, thats all.

I agree with AgentPotato, if graphics are all that make a game for you, move on. This game is not for you. Someone is sad because they cant drop back and toss the bomb and complete it everytime like they can in the trashcan game that EA pushes each year with better visuals. I like having a game that is in doubt. The lack of franchise is a bit frustrating but understanding, who would you get year in and year out to replace your current roster would they stay super human for ever? Thanks for coming back visual concepts, you were missed.

The 2K games were ALWAYS better than their Madden counterpart. The Dreamcast actually had some of the best football games EVER thanks to the 2K crew.
Notice when Madden has competition they always improve over the previous year? The years that they DON'T have any competition are always the ones that suck hardcore.

Has this game disappointed me? Yeah a little bit. The lack of in depth features plagues the game quite a bit, but for a series that hasn't been around in three years, or has yet to be on a next gen console, the game is impressive, unlike another football franchise when it debuted on next gen.
Also I think 2k sort of put this game out with the lackluster features just because they wanted to test the market to see if people can actually be interested in unlicensed football. And from the looks of it, they have succeeded. I think you can attribute the let downs in this game to a few things;
1: I'm sure the budget wasn't very high because this game could have easily flopped. Maybe they just didn't have enough money to pack into the game.
2: For the money that they did have, I'm sure quite a bit went to the rights to retired players. I've heard rumors that some players wanted as much as 30K just to have their name in the game. And when theirs 240+ legends, I'm sure it takes a chunk out of your money.
But overall I've enjoyed this game very much. It was basically made as an online game, and I've found that compared to Madden, the online players are much more mature. I've played about a dozen games online and haven't come across one cheeser yet. I'm sure there are a few out there, but not nearly as much as madden has.

APF is by far the best Football game I have ever played. This is my first experience with 2K football. It took a little getting used to, but the gameplay is amazing. I love how non-mobile QB's need to actually set their feet and throw poorly off the run.
This game ruined Madden for me as that game now seems way to unrealistic. I don't think I could go back to playing against people dropping back 20 yards and throwing 60 yard bullets off their back foot.

Why don't they make an All Pro NBA game? I'd buy that. Short shorts and hiked up tube socks. And it would never get obsolete because the rosters wouldn't need updating. Oh. I think I answered my own question.
