Video: Halo 3 and Halo Wars make us salivate
Fresh from E3 are two Halo videos that made us salivate uncontrollably and just may make some fanboys become giddy little school girls. Yup, they're that good. Embedded above is the trailer everyone and their grandma is talking about and is the the new Halo 3 campaign trailer shown at E3. The Arbitor, Cortana and the entire Covenant race make an appearance in the trailer and be sure to watch for the Brute Chopper ... it's teh badness. After watching the trailer we think we can all agree that Halo 3 is looking a lot prettier and will feature one epically awesome campaign. Also, be sure to check out Joystiq's Halo 3 E3 trailer analysis.
The second video is embedded after the break and is Halo Wars' coming out video featuring gameplay footage. Not only does it look graphically impressive, but it looks darn fun to play too. Ensemble Studios has done a fantastic job on this one as we can't wait to get our hands on those little Warthogs and Grunts. Adorable little guys. Halo 3 and Halo Wars ... this is gaming my friends.

The CoD4 footage was SO much nicer than this. The models look low-poly, the animations look canned, and the lighting (in some scenes) looks generic.
Why is everyone going apeshit over this video?

dude, it's being hosted by gamevideos, i'm sure most of that would be lost in the low-res anyways.
i think it looks great for a RTS, i mean you don't need much nicer looking graphics than whats in C&C, and i would say those look about on par.

Oh, and the HD versions of the vids are available at GameTrailers.com, so video quality isn't an issue here.

Well, frankly, Ithillis, like Peter Moore said, Halo 3 has another 11 weeks to its release...of which probably the next 8 or so will be spent on polishing even more. Plus the HD versions do do everything justice, and I think Halo 3 will end up being absolutely stunning.

So is Halo 3 finally going to allow co-op multiplayer for the campaign? That is the one rumor that has me very excited for this game.

To add to the graphical debate concerning Halo 3: You can definitely see parts of the trailer where the graphics are more polished than others, and there are some really nice environments in it (like right after they landed on the Halo).

I dunno, I already paid for this game (victim of the hype machine, and they gave me free MS Points with the pre-order), but I am not so super-stoked on it. I am way more excited for Assasin's Creed or Bioshock than this, but I have to admit that I only paid part of the 1st (on PC) and none of the second. Are they *that* good? Do I absolutely have to run through the HALO 1+2 to fully enjoy 3?

Ithillis, I agree that COD4 was impressive with the realism approach and graphics...that's what the game is aiming for. However Halo3 artstyle is not for realism, but sharp artistic visuals and smooth polish. The gameplay is awesome and fun, no game compares to it IMO. If you want to see what Halo3 will look like from an HD set, look at one of these screen-shots here:

These screens do the game more justice, especially if you have an HDTV. And DJ this showing is pretty much the final look, not too much will change.

I don't get why people are banging on and on about the graphics. I was happy with the BETA. I was pretty much expecting a prettier higher def version of Halo 2. Enjoy the game FFS. Killzone 2 may look pretty but it could play like crap. Anyway did anyone see the UT3 trailer - now that does LOOK awesome!

Well I'm more of a Sony fan my self, However I think I will play this game at some point just to finish out the story. So this one is prob a Rent for me. With Games like Haze, Crysis, and Killzone 2 on the way, Halo 3 Really doesn't compare when it comes to visuals, however the gameplay is solid and fun.
However like others before me said, I just don't understand the hype, its the 3rd in the line of better then avg console shooters. Well worth the rent/purchase, but not the hype. Just my two cents though!

Oh! Also my 360's framerate goes to hell while playing Gears, and Lost Planet, and will crash a bit. Do you think that will mean I might have trouble with Halo? I prop it up on a box like Microsoft told me. Keeping it away from my TV/PS3/Sound system, and it helps a bit, but I'm a bit worried >.

I've Sharp Aquos and I was pretty sure (looking at the screen shots) that Halo3 graphics will be better than Gears of War but was fairly disappointed last night. This is supposedly "next-gen" console so gamers shouldn't have to put up with below par graphics. As far as gameplay elements go, bungie was able to do that with halo2. I really hope they'll do some magic before the game goes gold.

I tell you, the game that really hasn't gotten much Hype that I am most looking forward for, and maybe the soul reason I bought my half working 360, is Fable 2!
www.lionhead.com
They are putting ALOT into this game, I cannot wait to play it!
Sorry for thread hyjacking! But anyone hear anything new about Fable 2 at E3 yet?

Hey Jldowning you're the PS3 fanboy who started the big argument! Haha. I wrote this in response but don't think you saw it.
34. Jldowning:
1) Xbox 360 Premium = $400
2) Xbox live = $50 a yr
3) Enjoy gaming and having video games to play, and people to play with, and HD videos to d/l, and customizability, and bigger market, and a rumbling controller, and more and better exclusives, and better arcade games, and better games and better online (according to Jldowning) ...priceless

"More of a Sony fanboy myself"
That's an understatement. Judging from your previous comments I would have to say you hate Microsoft for having you pay for repairs (which they are refunding if it was close enough to the warranty upgrades). Yet what I don't understand is why you come back to this site if you are so flagrantly against the xbox. What good does news regarding the xbox do you?
Back on topic. I am very excited about both of these games and am going to get both when they come out. Halo Wars is something that I've been waiting for for a long time. Not Halo Wars specifically but a RTS done right on a console.

I was just kidding around ;) I made no attempt then or now to hide that I like Sony better. However I am still a 360 owner and have none hate posts about it!
I think you are talking about when I said a 360 will cost anyone more then a PS3 in the long run. Its still true, I mean Xbox live alone over the life of the system will do it.
However you make good points about flaws of the PS3 at the moment. All I can say in return is that sony is getting Rumble, with force feedback (Like a joystick) and sixaxis, for no added cost. And PSN will be revamped after E3 to provide more of a XBL like service, with no cost (Home, like second life will have a cost)
But I really didn't wanna make a sony/M$ debate here, actually wanted to find out info about Fable 2 at e3 ;)
Happy posting!
